2014, March 12-16: Green Eggs & Ham IV

The Green Eggs & Ham Rally (so named because the first 3 were scheduled over St. Patrick's Day weekend in March) will be moving to a new location in March 2014. While the Millers Ferry Campground had lots of pluses the rally seemed to be outgrowing it and suggestions were made for a new location. Our trusty leader, Shorty, visited some suggested COE campgrounds and reported back with the recommendation that we move to Gunter Hill campground, just outside Montgomery, AL. The campground is part of R.E. Bob Woodruff Lake COE.

Dates are set for March 12-16, 2014.

For lots more info please visit the website Green Eggs & Ham Rally

Hope you can make it! I'll want to check out your tow vehicle!

We'll be the ones flying these flags on our camper, you are probably familiar with at least one of them.

If we decide to go Jeff, we can caravan our way, I'm maybe 20 miles from you here in Pa.
We always go to the Tennessee Rally in April, need to broaden our horizons and see some new sights.

HA! I thought you'd recognize the PA flag, but I guess everyone knows the TX flag.

Jim, we have plenty of time so we don't push it. I prefer to break up the drive. Hey John, I guess I should recognize the Pa flag but I don't. We only moved to Pa a little while ago.

OK, folks have started making reservations at the new campground. You can make them for up to 6 months prior to your arrival, so if you want to check in on March 7 you can make them today. So far 3 others have contacted me with their site numbers. Please email me at borderbrae@aol.com.

We have the website for the rally set up and it will be updated as time goes on. PLease check there periodically and feel free to use the comments section or contact either Shorty or me. Green Eggs & Ham Rally

Smile Green Eggs & Ham IV

We reserved a site today for the rally. This is our first Green Eggs & Ham rally and we are looking forward to meeting everyone. We live in Minnesota, but winter in Gulf Shores, AL so this will be close for us.

Gunter Hill Campground

For those of you that have never been to Gunter Hill it is a beautiful campground. About 15 miles from the campground is the town of Pratville very easy drive. All the major restaurants and major stores are there. If you do go to Pratville don't. Miss the old downtown with its Dam and spillway bring camera. Montgomery is also very nice about equal distance to main shopping areas the only difference is Montgomery's traffic. Hope to see everyone there.

Thanks for that info, Herman, sounds like a bit of research about both towns is a good idea before we head there.

Montgomery

Montgomery does have a loop bypass around town that aids in your getting around. Like most cities if you time your moments around rush hour you will be ok. Montgomery has put up lots of red lights to help tourist have plenty of time to look around. Herman

Well as it turns out I had to cancel my reservations for this gathering. My daughter needs us to pick up our grandson from school two of the days we would have been away. I'll try another trip some day.

Hi John & Debby, The primary source for info about this rally is on the website, Green Eggs & Ham Rally. That said there are threads on both of the Casita forums under the rallies sections (In casitaclub look at Casitaland>Southeast. Most folks have reserved in the Catoma loop with a few folks in the other loop. The campground does have some FCFS sites if you want to take a chance on that. Neither of the Casita forums costs to join and neither send you spam. I suggest you go to one or the other to find out more along with the website.

It would be great if you can come. It isn't strictly limited to Casitas and I know of a couple other non-Casitas that will be there.

Sorry I can't help you regarding places to see. It is near Montgomery I know. This is a new location for the rally since we outgrew the other one and I'm not familiar with the area.
