There are some nice state parks in north eastern GA but we have not camped in that neck of the woods. We have, though, frequently camped at Cloudland Canyon SP and recommend it highly. It's about a 30 minute drive from Chattanooga...down a mountain and up I-59.

Thought it might be interesting to look at the history of the Cherokee rally. The first rally was held in 2010, organized by a lovely couple, Cindy and Ray, Scamp owners. It was held at Happy Holiday campground and most of us camped along the creek. Ditto for the second year in 2011. (This was the year my husband pulled a 20 1/2 inch trout from the creek behind our trailer!)
Cindy and Ray had other responsibilities in 2012 leading to Jean (from FL) and Kip (from GA) stepping up and making sure that Cherokee would again be happening in October. Ditto for 2013!
This year, 2014, due to other plans by Jean, Kip and I will be hosting the rally.
We already have 62 trailers registered! And we are expecting more! We also have more activities planned than previous years. With only two of us as hosts, we will be asking for help. We plan to have a central fire pit....for socializing at night. Any wood contributions will be appreciated. More on how you can help later......

Rally time is certainly drawing closer.
Lynne has stepped up and is hosting this event like she had been doing it for a long time. As she said there are a couple of new activities planned.
You can see the planned activities at Cherokee Rally
That Web Page was created and maintained by Jean, even though she most likely won't be joining us.
Thoughts, and ideas accompanied by solutions are welcomed.
Something that would help tremendously is with preparing and cleaning up before and after Pot Luck. Last year Happy Holiday had to round up many extra tables and put them on the porch for extra seating. They came off the campground and were dirty. So it would help if some folks could show up a bit early with a rag/towel or 2 to help wipe them down. There is a sink there for rinsing them out.
A few tables may need to be rearranged for better serving and seating. We could use some help there.
Also, afterwards please take your empty containers and left over food with you. And a few folk stick around and take a trash bag or 2 to the nearby dumpster.
And maybe help clean off the tables again. Even if just the one you ate at.
These things seems small in themselves but can seem a bit overwhelming with it all facing a few.
Thanks,
Kip

We can bring wood and rags. We are definitely willing to pitch in. Looking forward to October in Cherokee. Thanks for organizing. Showing up is easy. Planning is hard.

Thanks, Roy and Marti! Your support is much appreciated!
One of our goals for the rally is to provide a comfortable atmosphere for new rally-goers. Many times newbies feel excluded as they see others gathering, talking and the new person feels a little left out. This rally has more new comers, first time rally-goers and new fiberglass trailer owners than any of the other rallies that I've attended. Maybe around 40%!
I hope anyone reading this goes to the effort to meet your surrounding neighbors and start making friends. Some of my rally friends go back 6 years....and it's the relationships that keep me returning to the gatherings, year after year.

Jack, site 47 is very far from the rest of the rally. Not sure if HH told you that info. Most of the rally is on the left or western side of the campground. Lynne

I don't mean to insult you by suggesting the obvious, but are you sure you didn't accidentally unsubscribe to the thread. I am not subscribed to this particular thread, but I do get notifications on all those threads to which I am subscribed. If you check the obvious and everything is as it should be, you might want to bring this to the attention of a moderator.

Kip,
We're still getting instant notifications. Have you double checked the "subscribed threads" status under the quick links tab?
