Donna FYI I just took a look at the Cape Lookout state site and thought i would give a heads up. As one lady at the potluck indicated there is a limited number of sites with water and electric, 35 to be exact. To make things even less attractive the 35 sites are split about evenly between two loops. There is available a large number of tent sites with no hookups and I am unable to ascertain if they will even accommodate a trailer of any size. Doesn't look to friendly for a gathering when the fall NOG tallied 70 plus trailers. Lee

We hold Fiberglass and Tincan rallies in BC with 90 plus trailers attending all the time at a spot with only 20 power sites and half of them have no water.

Those who have attended the rallies would suggest they were very friendly fun meets The advent & popularity of solar power has been a good thing ;-)

Carol I guess I should have stated my concern more clearly, that being that if the tent sites won't accommodate trailers ( and I don't know if they will or not ) then the gathering would be limited to 35 trailers. I belong to the tear drop campers and we regularly camp without electric, water, potties, showers and cell service so I don't see the lack of hookups as a problems just that the campground might not be able to handle more than 35 trailers. lee

Thanks Lee and Carol. I have plans to go to Cape Lookout myself sometime next month. I'm an Oregonian and I've never been there! The majority stated that's where they want to go. I hope to visit with the park rangers and see the sites for myself and make an objective decision after the visit. Only one time in the more than 20 NOGs that have been held, did I change the destination (with reason). If it doesn't look like it will work out (typically the NOGs are 20-40 sites), then maybe we'll return to Fort Stevens. Won't know that until I visit. Stand by

The tent sites in the upper loops are large and will take in most cases large trailers - the majority of the sites are 25' to over 40' long

Last weekend the weather was nearly perfect. This weekend (typical Fall NOG weekend), not so much. Screen shot for Fort Stevens State Park. Weren't we lucky!
