IL | 2015, Sept 25-27: Mississippi River Fiberglass Rendezvous

September 25, 26 and 27 will see the first Mississippi River Escape Rally. Hampton IL, a community that is part of the Quad Cities, is home to a beautiful US Army Corp of Engineers Campground called Fisherman’s Corner. Just feet from the Mississippi River, each campsite gives access to river traffic, bird life and offers a secluded area away from the cities.

Attached is a complete description of the event, instructions for making reservations and a more detailed description of the area. As always, you are welcome to ask questions or make comments. The rally is open to all.

I hope you will be able to join with other fiberglass and Escape enthusiasts and spend some time on the "the Big Muddy".

Hi If All Sites are taken less than a mile down river is Illiniwek Forest Preserve in Hampton, Il. it has water and elect 30 Amp at each site and two shower houses and is also on the river cost the last I new of was 20$. You can not rev. sites there though but there has always been open sites.

Thanks for that recommendation. I recall using the bike trail (The Great River Trail) and it passed directly through the campground at Illiniwek Forest Preserve. It is a nice location and would make a great overflow location for campers not able to get into Fisherman's Corner. I think the river views are even better at Illiniwek, however I was there about this time of the year and the leaves may not have been out. It could be different views in September.

Sounds like a great rally! Unfortunately, we already have plans for September 2015. Hopefully this turns into an annual event and we can attend in 2016. Although we don't have an Escape - it's on our short list for our next trailer. I was disappointed to see the 15' model be discontinued. Hopefully in a few years Escape will reintroduce the 15'.

My wife and I are already making plans for 2016. Time flys when camping!

Too bad you can't join us. Escapes are great but I doubt they will reintroduce the 15. There are some that will come up for sale but you have to be fast to grab one.

I can always hope. I am sorry I didn't purchase one of the last three 15's Escape had for sale in January, but the timing was (and still is) all wrong.

The problem with living in Scamp country (Mn), you don't find too many Escapes for sale locally. When the timing is right, we will find our next trailer.

Anyway, you guys have a great time at the September rally, it looks like a fabulous setting.

There have been a couple of used 15' Escapes come on the market just in the last few weeks. If you slide over to the www.escapeforum.org I am pretty sure you will see details on the most recent one posted for sale located in Vermont.

Is anyone from the Hampton area? I live in the Quad Cities and would love to attend with my 13' Scamp, but I am already registered to attend the Tin Can Tourists Fall Rally.

I am not sure there is anyone who lives closer than you to the rally location. Galesville, IL is the closest I can come up with to Fisherman's Corner in Hampton, IL. Those Tin Can Tourists have some interesting events. I had come across them some years back in Bradenton FL. I did not realize until recently that they hold rallies all across the country.

The Mississippi River continues to be the backdrop for another year of fiberglass comradery. For 2016, the rally moves up river to the sleepy community of Thomson, IL and another fine US Army Corp of Engineers campground called Thomson Causeway.

The festivities begin on Friday September 30, 2016. The booking window for campsites opens on March 30, 2016. We will be using sites 99-126, but three additional loops are available, two of those are within walking distance.

We hope you can add the dates to your calendar and plan to attend this year’s event.
