2016, May 19-21 - Eggs on the Hiawassee River

Okay, I have talked with River Bend and decided it will be "1st Annual Eggs on the Hiawassee River" May 19-21 (Sunday checkout) and they have river sites C1 through C10 held (water, electric & cable & wifi) and they will block and hold more if these fill up. They have other sites available if you need sewer. All sites are $35 per night with 1 night deposit. We will be in site C1 across from the office. As I will be hosting, please notify me here or by email at johnamartin at bellsouth dot net when you make your reservation.

River Bend Campground on the Hiawassee River
2626 Streak Hill Road
Hiawassee, GA 30546
706-896-1415
Riverbend Campground - Hiawassee GA

The campground is 15 miles from Helen and reservations need to be made by April 15th to ensure you get a spot in the group.

The campground will do a fish fry for all attending on Thursday night and they supply the fish, attendees will need to supply side dishes. We have use of the pavilion and kitchen if needed. Also they have a horseshoe pit so a competition may be in order! Let me know if you will be attending and if you can help or have any requests for activities. Open house and showing of eggs planned for Saturday 10 to 2 for those wanting to participate.

Great glad you're coming! And yes reservations must be made by phone from my understanding. Looking forward to seeing how many eggs we get since this is the first one here and a little more than 2 months away.

Just talked to the site and so far they've just been assigning sites in numerical order and we've got 11 rigs so far. Looks like we're off and running for a great rally. I'm in site 4.

We came up last night to check the place out and the staff is very friendly all family ran....little cool up here today...the lady at the office e told us they already have 10 sites booked. A scamp is just down the way and another Casita couple drove through this morning to check it out as they saw the rally on another site

I look forward to seeing your Trillium and hopefully your friend's Uhaul too. This is shaping up to be a really nice rally. So far at least 14 rigs and already at least 5 different makes.

Great Courtney glad you got your folks to come along. Glen looking forward to seeing your rig and the work you've done. WaltP I have spoken with the campground and they are blocking off sites in groups of 10 as they fill up they will bock off another 10 and contact me as they do so I can keep up with attendance. We are trying to keep all the eggs together so C section went first and A section directly across from there if you need sewer hookup and then on from there. I am working on the banner design this week. Anyone want name tags?

If anyone has any ideas, activities or suggestions for the rally please let me know. As of right now there will be the fish fry on Thursday evening (Riverbend staff is doing this for us and supplying the fish and hush puppies) we just need volunteers to bring side dishes. Saturday I planned for an open house for those wanting to display their rigs. I would like to know how many eggs are participating that are 70's model or older, 80's to 90's and 2000 or newer...Also if any are restorations or major refurbished. They have a horseshoe pit if anyone is interested in a competition let me know. The meet and greet will be Thursday before the fish fry.

I am really excited that we already have booked this many eggs, especially being the first one and on such short notice. We really enjoyed our weekend there it was just too short. This area of north GA is really beautiful, lots to do in Helen and surrounding areas and lake Chatuga is just minutes away too. This campground really impressed me with the layout and seems very well kept too. The bathhouse by the office was very clean and the showers were being redone (grout work I think). Only 2 showers in this one but there is another one in the campground also.

This is shaping up to be a great first rally folks!
