Well folks,

Thanks to everyone who came out on the Alberta Meet for Keeners last weekend. Andrea and I had a great time meeting you all and appreciating your trailers - thanks for letting us off lightly for selling our Boler We appreciate it! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

By popular request, I promised to organize another one soon. Here are the details:

Date : July 6-8, 2007
Location : Crimson Lake Provincial Park, nr. Rocky Mountain House

http://gateway.cd.gov.ab.ca/siteinformation.asp?id=27

This wonderful provincial park (that's what it says on the website, anyway) is exactly half way between Calgary and Edmonton and will make a great venue for the next meet. There is a beach, swimming, fishing, boating, hiking etc on site, plus there are some sites with power, water and showers for those who need it.

Our too-short summers are tight for dates with long weekends, the Stampede and the Prairie Bolerama in July and I'm away for the bulk of June so couldn't put anything on before this date. It falls one weekend after the July long and two weeks before Prairie Bolerama. It also happens to be the first weekend of Stampede so I don't know if that will pose a problem for anyone.

I hope that those of you who attended last time can make it again and I hope that anyone else who wants to join us will come too. Please post your interest here if you would like to come and monitor this thread over the coming weeks. At a later date I'll start collecting email addresses and funds so I can reserve spots in advance.

Happy trailering, hope to see you there!

Darren & Andrea

Hi Darren

We will try to make it to the July meet. We have always wanted to camp at Crimson Lake. It will depend on John's work schedule. I'll let you know as we get closer.

Here is a link to our pics from the first Meet for Keeners.

We enjoyed the weekend and it was great to meet new friends and see everyone's trailers.

Debbie and John

Already asked Tarynn to book the time off for this one. The last one was fun, and the people were amazing. My son can't stop telling people that he saw Saturn!

I gotta say, it's weird seeing my old trailer in unfamiliar surroundings... I hope Yuri/Karen and the kids had a good time in it.

Yeah I bet ... just like it's weird seeing mine for sale in Victoria

How about you come see it in the flesh at the next one Herb?

I would love to see the 17' redone as I was tempted to buy it and love seeing the pictures of the work you are doing. I checked out your old trailer and have already begun building shelving similar to what you did, awesome idea. Your trailer is in good hands with Yuri and his family, I can tell talking to them they love it!

I don't know if the group camping thing is really for us ... But I live in northern calgary so feel free to stop by if you're in this neck. These days I'm either working, sleeping, or in the trailer ... First camping trip is planned for June 15...

PM me for address if you like.

I didn't put in any vote, because none of them really fit. Like Herb, I don't know that we are organized event people, but if we're traveling in the area we would drop by.

I, too, look forward to seeing Herb's B1700 some day.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

What I want to know is:

1) What's a keener?

and,

2) Do you have to have/be one to vote in this poll?

A Keener is someone who is just too eager to do something.

Such as camping when there is still a chance of snow. Although in Alberta, it can snow at any time of the year.

Darren,

Thanks for organizing the Meet for Keeners. Was a good time.

Debbie & John, thanks for posting the pictures - they look great

I've already committed to my daughter to take in the rodeo on the 8th, so if the date stays I won't be able to make the next get-together, but I'm sure everyone that does will enjoy themselves.

Thanks to Steve for bringing his 'scope, I agree seeing Saturn was cool!

Ahh, thanks Debbie. I googled the term, which gave me an idea, but your explanation fits better!

Honestly, at first I thought it was some kind of trailer... but then saw that y'all all had Bolers and Trilliums. (Well, except for Darren selling his.)

Of course, we don't have keeners in Texas... Unless they would be enthusiasts about camping in August, despite the heat!

Of course you have keeners in Texas. They're called Aggies and Longhorns.
