Roger, I stay out of the reservation stuff. It's between site "owner" and "you." If Brian and Maria have already corresponded with you then do what you'd like... I've just heard from some folks that would love to join us. But there is no official list per se. This is the NOG I don't have the energy to keep track of cancellations and match folks up.

I looked into the group area, it's small and there aren't any hookups. It would require ONE reservation to take the entire area. My checkbook isn't up for that.

B Loop is first come, first serve during the Discovery Season. The NOG falls on the last weekend of Discovery Season. The next weekend the prices go up too!

Let me know if I need to swap participants on the list.

BUT, if anyone else needs to cancel, please let me know and I'll share email addresses. Y'all would take it from there.

NOG First, then Alaska

The trailer and truck are packed and we'll start wandering our way north tomorrow morning, following a very crooked path. We expect to travel up California 49 before heading west on 299 to intersect 101 and then follow the coast most of the rest of the way. Details will be on the blog.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Smile Reserving Champoeg sites

I sent the following question to Champoeg Park:

"For camping, is A loop reservable and B loop first come first served?"

This is the answer:

"Hello Roger,
"It depends on what time of year it is. A Loop is closed from November 1st through March 31st. We will, however, open A loop prior to April 1st on weekends if the weather gets nice enough and B loop gets full. Once A loop opens April 1st, it [A loop, I presume] is all on the reservation system.

"B Loop is also on the reservation system, but in the winter (October 1-April 30), there are 10 sites that are first come, first served as well as the tent sites. After April 30, all of B loop is on the reservation system.

"You can inquire about availability or make reservations by calling 1-800-452-5687 or by going to the web site: Oregon State Parks and Recreation From there, click on "Visit / Reserve" , then you can click on the icon that takes you to the Oregon Parks & Rec Dept. portion of reserveamerica.com

My comments like [this],

So, I understand that there are 10 sites in B loop that are first come, first served Oct 1 - April 30.

That's what I understand, the rest of B Loop is reservable year around.

So tomorrow night cari and i are going to practice backing up the rig in our costco parking lot...cuz we will definitely need the practice!..

AND...to top it off...site A45 is 29 feet long...
And well...Our van is 18ft
And the Parkliner is 15ft...

So i'm gonna have to do some fancy finagling to get'em both in the space!

Thom in case your unaware, very near the park there is a remote control air field (just up the road from the old ice cream store) that on week-ends normally has lots of action. Some pretty cool planes and Helicopters. Your trucks would fit right in there.

i did read about the airfield somewhere in here
Sounds fun! I used to build and fly RC Slope/Pylon-racing gliders off the cliffs just south of San Francisco. What a blast.

It's all good till you have a mid-air with a competitor and you both go down in the waves ~100 feet below

park the trailer and disconnect and park the van across the front of the site.

That might just be the ticket!
But didn't want to seem like we were creating a little No Trespassing Zone...You all are welcome to take a look around the rigs

Its a pretty common problem in the A loop area due to many of the sites being fairly short - if your trailer is narrow enough you can put the trailer off enough to one side to allow the backing in of the tug in partly beside it. Be warned though whatever you do dont park on any of the grass area around your site - the rangers & camp hosts there are vigilant on watching for that!

Thom, if you have enough rear clearance, just back up until the tires on the trailer bump the "curb" that may be enough to give you a couple of extra feet. I think they measure the sites from street to that curb. May be worth checking out.

Yeah for you Roger. Sorry Brian and Maria can't join us tho... maybe next time.

Did you see that monster of a tree that is just beyond the curb?
Next time i'll pick a _real_ site.

accrete, here's the lowdown on flying around the park,
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...guy-52480.html

Have you tried the slopes in south eastern Washington, around the Tri-Cities? Places like Eagle Butte and Kiona?

Sad to say we're not going to make it. I just have too much pre-op stuff to take care of, and a nasty flu bug has laid us up for the past 10 days, so our energy levels are pretty low. I will cancel our booking (A 26) on Friday, April 19, at about noon, Hope that works a hopeful out there.
cheers for now
Ian
