If I'm counting right we have 35 two legged persons, 18 trailers and who knows how many 4 legged creatures besides Rocky and his friend Jerry a comin' to the winter-warm-up! WOW That's great!

Sure glad we didn't plan it for January. It has been record COLD here. Lots of damaged plants, citrus trees and the like. Surely the weather will be just beautiful in February. But, no promises!

Thank you for responding so quickly as to what to bring for the barbeque. Gina has said she will bring the beans but that could be a mighty big pot. Need some more help Gina? I tentatively have updated the list since Gina did the first one as to what spaces we are in. (I will post if later unless I can get Gina to do it?) Mary Ellen and Mel, we need your space number. Also Clint, how many in your family? Marian A., are you traveling alone?

The first warm-up Wes and I organized we camped in a blacktop, some grass, camp ground in Indio. I think there were 7 or 8 trailers that year and my first experience trying to organize one of these get-to-gethers. We had a great time, we met Tao and Bonnie for the first time that year. (They just came in their car for Sat. night as they didn't get the window installed in time to camp in their then new trailer acquisition. They will be at this rally if Bonnie isn't too jet lagged from just returning from a 3 week trek to Europe.) I don't recall how many years back that was. Probably '02 or '03. Any one remember for sure?

There is something to be said about blacktop campgrounds in the desert though, especially if it is very windy! Lake Cahuilla is a bit rustic, very little blacktop in the campground area, but it is one of our favorite places to go none the less unless there is a lot of wind.

A couple of years back, Wes and I were camping at Cahuilla when a terrible wind suddenly came up. We were inside the Casita when I saw a huge explosion of flame coming from the fire pit. We charged out the door just in time to see that one of our favorite camp chairs had been blown into the fire pit and was totally consumed by fire.

This year of course we have asked for temperatures in the 70's and NO WINDS!

SEE YOU SOON!

The Pollywaggers, Wes and Maggi

Looks like there are only 4 sites left, 2 non hook up, but right on the Lake!

Yes, as much as you may get an arguement from my co-workers, I am afraid providing all that hot air, er, beans, for 35 would be a large pot indeed!

Who else wants to heat up Busches finest?

Looks like it is going to be a nice group!!! We camped at Kartchner Caverns over past weekend and it was rainy, cold, windy and we even had some snow flurries!!! Had 9 Casitas there and 2 came in from other states that did not know we were going to be there. Casitas sure get a lot of attention when there is a group of them!!! We even had one Scamp and a Trillium. Nice turn out even with the weather. Looking forward to some of our nice, dry, sunny, warm, Valley of the Sun weather!!!! Where is it??????

Thanks Gina for re-organizing the lists! Sure DOES help. But don't worry too much about the beans. There is a Smart and Final Store down the way and I can pick up one of those super humungus cans of chili beans, enough I am sure for a small army. There will be plenty of time to pick up beans.

You all might be wondering though what the heck IS a "POLLYWAGGER"????????? Well..................Wes and I have been trying for some time to think of a name for OUR Casita. While we in Quartsite a couple of week-ends back, there was this vendor whose business was to make signs and banners, etc. basically while you wait. I took in our solid black tire cover and had him fuse lettering with what we think is a very unique name ..... "EL POLLYWOG" and he then printed it around the top of the cover, with our names around the bottom. Really turned out great.

But.................... beings it was late last night when I finished writing the post, I was a bit tired and without a thought, signed off as "THE POLLYWAGGERS, WES AND MAGGI"!

Earlier tonight, Wes was reading the posts and was laughing and laughing! He asked me "WHAT IN THE HECK IS A POLLYWAGGER"??????????????
(Only he used another term rather than heck).

Henceforth the above explanation!

Thank you all for your help in offering to bring barbeque condiments! SEE YOU VERY SOON!

THE POLLYWOGGERS, WES AND MAGGI!

Maggie:
Not sure why our registering for a space for the Winter Warm Up didn't show up on your list of Casita fun loving people. We plan to be there February 9 - 12 in space 49.

Our friends, Jim and Peggy Varner, are new Casita owners and have registered for this rally in space 47.

Please do not leave us Lake Havasu, AZ people out of the planned activities.

We will bring deviled eggs and brownies for the Saturday evening cook-out. Also, will have some munchies for the "wine and cheese - get acquainted", Friday evening.

Sincerely,
Jim and Esther Witte
Lake Havasu, AZ
