If I'm counting right we have 35 two legged persons, 18 trailers and who knows how many 4 legged creatures besides Rocky and his friend Jerry a comin' to the winter-warm-up! WOW
Sure glad we didn't plan it for January. It has been record COLD here. Lots of damaged plants, citrus trees and the like. Surely the weather will be just beautiful in February. But, no promises!
Thank you for responding so quickly as to what to bring for the barbeque. Gina has said she will bring the beans but that could be a mighty big pot. Need some more help Gina? I tentatively have updated the list since Gina did the first one as to what spaces we are in. (I will post if later unless I can get Gina to do it?) Mary Ellen and Mel, we need your space number. Also Clint, how many in your family? Marian A., are you traveling alone?
The first warm-up Wes and I organized we camped in a blacktop, some grass, camp ground in Indio. I think there were 7 or 8 trailers that year and my first experience trying to organize one of these get-to-gethers. We had a great time, we met Tao and Bonnie for the first time that year. (They just came in their car for Sat. night as they didn't get the window installed in time to camp in their then new trailer acquisition. They will be at this rally
if Bonnie isn't too jet lagged from just returning from a 3 week trek to Europe.) I don't recall how many years back that was. Probably '02 or '03. Any one remember for sure?
There is something to be said about blacktop campgrounds in the desert though, especially if it is very windy! Lake Cahuilla is a bit rustic, very little blacktop in the campground area, but it is one of our favorite places to go none the less unless there is a lot of wind.
A couple of years back, Wes and I were camping at Cahuilla when a terrible wind suddenly came up. We were inside the Casita
when I saw a huge explosion of flame coming from the fire pit. We charged out the door just in time to see that one of our favorite camp chairs had been blown into the fire pit and was totally consumed by fire.
This year of course we have asked for temperatures in the 70's and NO WINDS!
SEE YOU SOON!
