A gathering in that area would be nice in May. Remember that the third weekend of May is Appalachian Trail Days in Damascus which fills up that entire area. Some Virginia State parks will not allow pets but not sure about Grayson Highlands policy.
For any that are itching to get away remember a Mrytle Beach Rally is happening February 16-17 with Monday being a holiday.

Let's get this thing going. There are great parks all up and down the I-81 corridor in Virginia. Are you listening Al V? He can chime in with his favorite.
There are also many nice parks here in eastern Tennessee that we can check out.
We would not be available the last weekend in April or the first week in May (business) but would be interested any other time.

I'd be interested and am available the second or third weekend in May (12th and 19th).
Lets do this! Sounds like fun and I'd love to meet some fellow FGRVrs in person!
Anyone want me to check out the Luray site?

Which Luray campground are you thinking about?
Once we set a date I will have a dead line to get the burro ready.

I heard of a place called “The Country Waye Campground” .
It is an area in a big valley with farm land and mountains surrounding.
I belive in May sometime in the town of Luray there will be a Spring
Festival "with all sorts of arts and crafts, music, and
at least 7 wineries representing the Virginia Wine
Country."
“The Country Waye” 3402 Kimball Rd. at (1.888.765.7222)
I have never been there myself, read about it on a website "RVWomen"

[size=4][color=#333399]Newbie here...pleased to see that there's some interest in a gathering in my neck of the woods! Today is the coldest it's been in this area in 2 years, so I'm having warm weather thoughts of spring camping!
Grayson Highlands is beautiful...Hungry Mother is, too. There's also Julian Price near Blowing Rock, NC..........and Raccoon Holler on the New River, as well as others in the West Jefferson, NC area. (I've not taken my Scamp to a campground yet, as we moved here right after I bought it.....towing it less than an hour for my first time out....well...it's a goal!)
FYI....Memorial Day Weekend, there will be a 50 mile yard sale along Highway 88 in northern Ashe county. (For details, see 88yardsale.com). Just in case you need to plan around the traffic.
Please forgive if this post comes out huge and colorful....I'm messing with the fonts and gadgets to familiarize myself with this forum format!

hey there are lots of great places out there for sure! but i think we have a movement starting here. sound like Luray RV Resort is the place and the weekend before Memorial day is the date ( May 18, 19, 20). Since Denise picked the Site. I nominate her to be the coordinator, Point of contact person with the campground. So we can all have a clutch of eggs in the same area lol

Yikes!
What do I do? I've never set up anything like this before.
I suppose I call the campground and reserve sites first, right?
OK, I'll get on that now.
Next... start a new thread with date and location so everyone can let everyone know who's coming?
I'm talking to myself.
Jokes aside, I'll get on this and keep everybody posted.
This rally is going to be FUN

Not to worry Denise, Its only a camping trip. Probably need to find out if the pavillon
can be reserved for a group. The first time is the hardest getting it all set up and not knowing how many will come. I think once we get it going many more folks will want to come as their time allows. Make it an annual thing like in OR. and as someone else said on the forum ( Have it and they will come).
I'm 150 miles from Luray so no problem here.
Taylor, Better be getting the Boler ready huh? I still have a few things to do to Playpac
such as decorating inside which shouldn't take long if we get out of this cold snap we're having. Bill

ooh! a wine tasting sounds good. not to sure about wine and hot dogs on the same night lol.
Denice just keep a head count and keep in touch with the park. I cant imagine anyone needing 50 amps hehe unless they have one big eclectic popcorn maker rofl. I will make reservations once i get clearance from swmbo
