Feb 8-10,2013 Quartzsite Gathering

This will be the 6th Quartzsite Gathering, Feburary 8/9/10, 2013. Doug has had to drop out as co-host due to his work, he never knows where he will be from month to month. With a little luck, he and Michelle will be able to make an appearance at the gathering. Betty and I will continue to host the event with the help of many of our friends.

People don't seem to get enough of a good thing and just keep showing up earlier and earlier. So, the official dates are Feb 8-10, 2013, but we will be there the Sunday or Monday before. If it's like last year, there will be several trailers already there. What the heck. it's free.

Where: Same as always- Dome Rock area, Quartzsite, Arizona. Aprox 5 miles west of Quartzsite on I-10, south side of highway, next to frontage road.

Camping: Dry camping (no facilities) on hard packed dirt. Market, water and dump station are all located in Quartzsite, 5 miles to the east.

Campfires: Campfires ar allowed. Please bring some firewood if you can. As usual we will have a central firepit.

Generators: Generators are fine but please NO contractor types. Last year we had a couple of them and they drove people nuts. The normal (camp style) Hondas, Yamahas etc are fine. Please try to have them off be mid evening.

Pets: All pets must be kept on a leash while within the camp area. You are responsible for clean up and sanitary disposal of your pets waste. Please respect your fellow campers.

BLM Permit: A BLM permit must be obtained and displayed on your trailer. These are available free of charge from the BLM host trailer located a mile or two from town on the frontage road.

Registration: No pre registration is required. We will have a registration/signup table at a central spot (signs will show you where). This is just name, town, state and trailer type. You will be given a name tag at that time (no cost).

Soup Thing: If everyone would bring a can of soup (Not cream style). They are poured into a couple of large pots and shared with everyone on Saturday afternoon.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone - old friends and new.

George and Betty

Looks like tons of people from the Casita forum are going. I think I must be the only one I know from this forum who is going. Of course Feb is a long way off. I've been wanting to do that Quartzite swap meet and rock show for a long time. I hear it is great.

David and Pat will be there also. Like the bumper sticker says "We're all here, cause we're not quite there"! Thats the Quartsite experience.

Does anyone know if the big Quartzite flea market is going on during this time?

The flee market is still going during our Gathering but is starting to wind down. Don't worry you could spend all day looking at the vendors stuff and still only see part of it.

The flea market will be going on but the gathering is usually about one week after the Huge RV show/flee market.

Steve I think you will find that not all the vendors are there but even in Nov last year well before the crowds arrive (actually only a handful of folks camping on the BML lands) there was enough vendors there to keep me occupied for a day without seeing them all. Suspect the same would be the case towards the end of the season as well.

WOW! Where has all the time gone? This gathering is now right around the corner. I haven't even started my remodel. I'll just have to do a few small projects and use it as it is for this one.

We will try to make it to the gathering. Last year was our first time in Quartzite and we stayed a couple of days near Dome Rock. But we did not know about the BLM permit. Is it possible to get this permit on line ahead of time? If not could someone please give more specific directions about where to get it in Quartzite.

The permits are available from the camp host who is located on the north side of the road as you come out from town. Had a motorhome with a large flagpole in front last year.
