Redwoods Camping

Michael...we're headin for Patrick's Point in the Redwoods north of Eureka CA. Big trees and pounding surf and endless hours of beachcombing.
Life is good!
Jim

Michael

Michael! Have a good camping trip this weekend!

Pamela tells me we're staying home and doing stuff with "friends" ... I told her all my real friends would be going camping ... but she didn't buy it ... nor did our friends ... many of whom don't dabble in all things trailer.

You really have a way with words, Charles. :cry I can only hope you didn't mean that the way it sounds, since I (and a few other regulars here) aren't going camping this weekend, either!

Yeah but

Yeah, but, if one is constantly going camping in one's mind ... that counts, doesn't it?

I mean, I'll be sitting there at dinner tonight, pretending I'm listening the various conversations, etc .... but in my mind's eye, I'll be pulling my trailer up a mountainside, headed for a big meadow surrounded by tall pines somewhere.

If you got a vivid imagination, imaginary campouts are almost as good as the real thing.

That's more like it!

Thanks for the eloquent retraction, Charles (can I just call you Cahrles?)

We're all camping this weekend, in our dreams. :cblob

Ah

Ah .... I can see the reflection of the peaks in the high mountain lake ... near a big meadow. With deer and bears. Trout just jumping into fishermen's nets. Children laughing. Campfires burning.

Naw, don't have to leave home to imagine all that.

Think I'll take a nap and dream some more.

...getting out & seeing old friends #1

:wave
Nancy gave us a good referral for a place to stay in the Redwoods Friday night. This is one of those magic places where the trees are super tall and the mist is drifting through the woods in the morning. The cost was a little more then I like to spend but it was a “Got-to-do-it” place. That part of the world is expensive and so this was in line with what is in that area.

Nancy & Ollie had us over for brunch in the morning (Saturday) Oh man, she put on a great Dutch Oven breakfast for us. And too, she invited our old friends and her neighbor over to join us, Bob & Shirley who we had met at Lopez Lake Mini Rally.

The fellowship was just what we were looking for.

...getting out & seeing old friends #2

:steer
At noon Lori and I packed up and drove to Rio Linda, CA.

There we met with Lou & Lora Edwards. Finding his house is like going on a treasure hunt. We were greated by three German Shepards that didn't know us. Their welcome made me stay in the Tahoe. Turned out they were very calm nice dogs. Buddy tried to look tough, but (being a he/she) he couldn't pull it off. A Cock-a-Poo just can't look like one street wise guard dog.

Lou is in the middle of installing a new converter, upgrading his wiring to #8 to the DC side of the refrigerator, and #6 ground wires (correct me if I'm wrong, Lou). Lora fed us her Special fried chicken dinner. Lou is a lucky guy.

I think I kept them up past their bed time talking and enjoying all the research and stuff they have come up with.

As you can tell, this was a different Casita trip. It was all about seeing old friends and just getting away.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
