Lake Bardwell

Nick, help me convince Pam to retire and we'll be there!

I actually want to spend part of the winter at Lake Bardwell.

I know, I know, you Texas-types say it gets cold there ... but compared to where I am during the winter, I could walk around in short sleeves all year round down there!

Campout

Mary,

You are way too scarey! You reading my mind or what? I was just thinking about this thread and was coming in here to bring it forward.

I made reservations, but looks like that I now won't be able to make it. I'm really bummed out about it, too. The weather around that time should be absolutely wonderful.

Hope there's a big turn out.

Casita Campout

Mary; Just got back from 5 days at Lake ot the Pines. Weather was Ok .Rained hard last night. Fiberglass roofs have it all over coated nylon even if it has been well seam sealed.

To answer your Question NO. Have three and I guess Suz is not going to make it.

It looks like an Indian fire is all we will need.

If you are thinking about coming you just have a few days to make up your mind.

Regrets...

Hi, Nick. Hope you do get some last minute recruits, but we'll not be among their number... not this time, at least.

You'll have fun anyway, and if you don't mind, I'd like a report on your impression of that big back window in the new Casitas (if you go have a look, that is). What I'm wondering is does it come down low enough to afford some kind of breeze across the bed? Does it interfere with the large dinette? (Is the table lower?)

Have a great time, and y'all drive carefully out there....

Hey, I just found out today about the Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary confab at the Texas Motor Speedway that weekend. No wonder y'all are going to Bardwell!!

So, Nick, how was it?

:wave Cloudy and cozy at Bardwell last week?

Did you meet new Casita owners at the campground?

Did you make it to the Casita factory? What're your impressions of the big back window?

Were there any goodies worth a mention at the Collin St. bakery?

(Is that enough questions?)

Texas/Louisiana area

:wave
Hi all! This is great! We're new to the "egg world", just bringing home our 1987 Dayton U-Haul this week, but looking for neat Texas locations for weekend get-aways as we're in Shreveport/Bossier...We will be pulling with either our van or one of our Corvair show cars (getting some miles under our belt before pulling to Carlisle, PA next year)...let us know of any egg-gatherings in the area! Thanks!

Belated Report

Marlene and I arrived early Thursday afternoon. Richard and Patty drove in while we were setting up. Shortly after they arrived Jim and Pat (new owners) drove up. They had picked their new 17 up Tuesday and had not unhooked it yet. They had been driving around to get the feel of towing.

We gave them a crash course in Casitaing. Took them to the dump station and let them dump with much coaching.Back to the site unhook and level the Casita. Connect water elect etc.

Friday we split up for a while. Marlene and I went to Casita to visit ,ask questions ,and snoop around. Then off to The Collin Street Bakery to get way more goodies than we needed.

Saturday we decided to go to breakfast at the Golden Corral in Ennis. Some of us were not over their minimum age limit of 62 but we got in anyhow. Next we crossed the street to the new Wal-Mart
and tried to fill Jim and Pats buggy with goodies for the Casita.

Back at the campground Richard was very busy installing the treasures that Jim and Pat had picked up. About this time Ed and Debbie arrived. They had been at home when they decided on the spur of the moment to join us .

Sunday we sat around talked and did some serious pot luck snacking. Jim and Pat started the long haul back to Florida and Ed and Debbie left for Big D.

John and Janie pulled in. They were taking their Casita to Rice for a checkup.

Monday Richard and Patty started home and John and Janie left for Rice.

We had a small fire every night thanks to Richard,

Monday night Marlene and I had the campground to ourselves.

We made some new friends and saw some old friends. Good conversation, good company some really really fresh air. A great time.

Mary: The new rear window looks huge. What I really liked was the vinyl floor. Sure looks nice when its new.

Weather overcast really windy some of the time and cool. I thought once the sun was going to come out

Marlene and Nick
