Looking for Baja Buddies

We are planning a trip half-way down the Baja. We will go as far as LAGUNA OJO de LIEBRE which is one of the spectacular gray whale breeding grounds. In total we will be in Mexico for 14 days.

Here is the plan:
We will meet in Potrero Regional Park 45 miles east of San Diego in California. We will go to the border and deal with getting our Mexican tourist card the day before we cross the border.

The next morning we cross the border at Tecate early in the morning. Our destination for day I is Ensenada. I have an itinerary planned at a leisurely pace.

The important things you need are Mexican car insurance - available in San Diego or on-line. A passport. A Mexican tourist card.

If anyone is interested in joining us please contact me on this forum. So far our tiny group includes me and my husband Tom in our 2008 Trillium and my sister-in-law in her 1974 Boler.

Thank you for the heads-up. I wasn't sure where to post this request.

Is this a commercial venture? Are you charging a fee for leading the group?
I ask because I looked up Potrero Regional Park and that seems to be the meet point for groups that travel to Baja, charging $3,000 per couple ( campsite fees, etc. etc. ).
Or, have you been on one of these commercial trips and figure you can lead a group, without charging fees, based on what you learned?
Just need to know more.

Heck No!!!! NOT a commercial venture!!! We have camped a lot in the San Diego area and love their regional parks (Sweetwater is my favourite). I have simply heard from other RV friends that Potrero park is a good place to meet up if you are trying to caravan with others as it is so close to Tecate. We have NOT done this trip before. But we have spent a lot of time in Mexico and feel comfortable travelling there. We are not leading... we just thought we would throw the idea out there and see if there were other tiny trailer people who would like to join us for part of the time or the whole trip.
Campsite fees at Potrero are $27 per night. Mexican RV parks are about 25 to 35 per night. 14 days of Mexican car insurance for our vehicle and trailer is less then $300.

The plan is to go to LAGUNA OJO de LIEBRE. If time permits we might make it to San Ignacio.
