Lopez Lake - Spring Rally
:wave I’m getting ready to make reservations for a mini rally at Lopez Lake again this year.
DATES
April 25, 26, & 27. (some people will be arriving the 24th)
Lopez Lake is in California about half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is 10 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean at Arroyo Grande, CA.
FRIDAY
This part of California is Wine Country. Within 5 miles there are a dozen wineries. So for those interested we will be having a wine tasting tour. Last year this turn out to be a good time of fellowship and getting to know each other. Then we will end up at the beach for a sun set dinner over the cliffs. The light show is unbelievable as the sun sets over the ocean.
SATURDAY
We are hoping to have another Dutch Oven Workshop and pot luck on Saturday for all those interested. Lori will teach a beginners class on how-to with a Dutch Oven. For those that came last year and would like advance cooking techniques in Dutch Oven cooking, she will have an advance class as well. If you do not own a Dutch Oven, we will provide one for you to use.
SUNDAY MORNING
We will make “Lori’s Famous Home Made Sour Dough Cinnamon Rolls” and fresh brewed hot coffee for everyone. At noon we will have “Muss-Goes”.
I NEED A ROUGH COUNT OF WHO IS INTERESTED!
PLEASE SIGN UP HERE.
I need to pay for the first night for every space to hold the spaces.
Cost $20 per night.
Thanks for your help.

Massive Lopez Lake Bluegill caught last week. A State Record?
As reported in “The Mariposa”, The big fish tilts the scales a 3.79 pounds. It turned out that the fish missed the state record by one-hundredth of a pound on the JJ’s Food company certified scales. The California state record is 3.8 pounds.

I guess that puts this Zonie bluegill to shame:
<
In 1998 the bluegill "Big Fish-of-the Year", according to Arizona Game and Fish, was caught at Lake Pleasant. The bluegill weighed in at 12.48 ounces and measured in at 10.13 inches.

Lopez Lake
Hi Michael
I just thought you might like a few photos on your thread regarding your Lopez Lake weekend in April. These are photos from your last trip there. Lineup of Casita Trailers, beautiful view of lake and Lori's Dutch Oven cooking lessons. Up close lessons, Lori stacks the ovens and with plates in hand - everyone's ready to eat.

:wave Thanks for the photos Carol!
I went out to Lopez Lake today to pencil in our reservations and lock in the group. We have 18 spots all together around a Big Oak tree. The meadow under the tree will be perfect for the Dutch Over Workshop and the pot luck.
So far I have six couples signed up. Please email me if you are planning to come, so I can put you on my list. To hold your spot, I will need a $25 deposit and what dates you are able to come.

We have just got two more sign ups. I would love to meet you all. If you can come to California in the spring, please let me know. Last year we had a great time and most of last years group is coming again. So that tells me it was worth the trip.
Please let me know. It takes $25 to hold a place for you. All but $5 is refundable.
Mary, you could ship your trailer out and then fly out for the weekend. What’a say?

Now why'd you have to go and say that, Michael?
I can't miss the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which, for future reference, is always the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. (I've tried to miss it before, but it's in my blood... or something like that.)
:feet :banana :dance
Nope, what I need to do is figure out a way to take our Casita to New Orleans....
Lake Lopez does look and sound great, though. Hope everyone else can go!

Nope, you're thinking of the Mardi Gras, which is earlier (the day before Ash Wednesday).
They bring clarinets and saxophones and voices and guitars and drums and pianos and voices and even a :violin or two to the Jazz & Heritage festival... And then there is also THE FOOD!
Of course your Spring Rally at Lake Lopez will also have a bit of FOOD, I'll bet!

NO!:nono :nono :nono
Don’t go through POZO. High mountain raod coming in the back way is a dirt Jeep road.
You will want to come down US 101 Frwy to Arroyo Grande. Get off at Grand Ave. and turn left (East). Go ten miles to Lopez Lake. Voila
:ola
I hope this helps.

:wave Bringing this to the top. We have one more reservation today.
Also, just wanted to let everyone know that my friend Bill Marvos, “Perro Chistoso” (funny dog), :jester will be helping us do the Dutch Oven Workshop again. He’s the one that helped Barbara cook lasagna last year.
Anyone that took the basic Dutch Oven cooking class last year and wants to learn advanced Dutch Oven cooking skills, please let us know.
All of the food cooked during the Dutch Oven work shop will be part of the Saturday evening dinner pot luck.
