I don't have a clue what I can bring if I come- have to dig something up for the corgi picnic, too. It can't require heating, has to be prepared two days early, and has to travel well. I'll probably bring cookies or something along that order.

If you dont' have propane or electric in the trailer... don't forget a crockpot and extension cord work pretty dang well! Of course that means an electric site has to be available for you to plug in.

I have propane- but I won't want to spend Saturday morning cooking if its warm. And won't have time Saturday afternoon.

Linda, what are your travel plans? If I do go I'd be leaving Friday morning from Fresno, probably 9-ish, travelling down 99 to Bakersfield.

Bobbie

We have finally slowed down enough to know what our travel plans might be. Our plans at this time, are that we leave Albany Oregon, Wednesday morning. We might be visiting friends in Kingman Thursday night and be able to meet up with you Friday morning. How long is it from Fresno?

Don't worry about cooking for everyone, I am sure there will be more than enought to go around. There always is.

Sorry, no electric available!

Gina thinks about six hours. But she said 3 1/2 to Bakersfield so that would make it 5 1/2. But isn't Kingman in Arizona? You'd already be way past Fresno at that point.

I was thinking maybe you meant King City...

Kingsburg is just south of Fresno. I have to stop off in Visalia and will be leaving there about 9:45 AM- its about 25 minutes south of Kingsburg. If that works out for you and if I am for sure going, I can figure out a place we could meet. (Visalia is 10 minutes east of 99.)

There is a rest area just south of Visalia, 15 miles or so? It's actually on the south side of Tulare.

My dogs use it often

Hi Linda,

DOs won't work, (I don't think...) unless you set them on top of a grill. Nothing can be on the ground for fire OR charcoal. And we can't even have anything resembling a fire pit or free standing fire etc.

A regular BBQ is OK, as long as it's used like you would normally use one. (I am not a DO person, so.. I am a bit clueless accept for what little I have seen)

They are even talking of banning charcoal fires within the area soon, but that has not happened yet. As the summer goes on, it is very likely. So... don't set your heart on it or disappointment may follow.
DOs use charcoal and can be done completely on a table. No fire pit needed. It may smoke a little while the charcoal is getting started but other than that we just use one of the tables we bring for our shows. Nothing needs to touch the ground. We will come prepared in case they say no to charcoal totally and have a propane grill that will sit on a table or worse case we can make something in the trailer and bring it outside.

And the rest area sounds like a good place to meet up. Thanks Gina Cell numbers have been exchanged so a time can be set. Do you need cell numbers to reach us just in case something changes while we are on the road? Like a road closure or other developments?
