I'm coming!!! I got the temporary operating permit today. I do plan to ditch you all and go to the corgi picnic on Saturday, though, but will be back for the barbecue. (Picnic is 11 AM.) I will need to find some space on a grill as I don't have one. I'll probably bring chips and salsa unless I get creative before then. (Like there is a lot of time...)

Yay!

We officially welcome Bobbie now, and John Perry has requested a space as well!

We look forward to meeting up with you Bobbi, 10AM Friday morning in the rest area south of Valinsia unless we hear different from you. I have your number with us in case something comes up. We leave tomorrow morning. Bringing two dutch ovens, my new "old" sourdough starter, and our little grill. And of course Dallas. See you all soon.

It is hell to get old and forgetful. I received an email today from my youngest grandson reminding me that his birthday party is this Saturday.
I have to go north instead of coming south.
I was looking froward to meeting you all, but the grand kids take priority now that I live a couple of hundred a miles from them.
I was going to bring my tools and fix the turn signal on Bobbi's trailer, maybe one of you handy guys or gals can help her out.

John

You missed my post, John, I fixed the left turn signal! When I started following wires back I found out it was not connected right after the plug on the trailer (under all the gooey tape). But thanks for the willingness to help. I'll miss meeting you but next time!

Hmm.. maybe I'll confirm before Friday just so Linda and Dale aren't in Valencie instead of Visalia....

Having company in the desert will be nice- those long, empty stretches scare me.

Now I am worried about Linda. She is coming to Fresno from Arizona, then meeting a Fresnonian in a rest stop in Tennessee.

Better let Dallas drive.

The rest stop is south of Tulare a smidge.

Only a couple more days.. I had better get to cleaning the big rig!

Okay, so you all know my dirt little secret, I am terrible with names. Kingman, Kingsburg, Valencie, Visalia.

That's okay, Linda, I'll find you. If you are a few minutes later than 10, don't worry, I'll probably want to walk the dogs at that rest area, anyway. 10:15 would probably be the earliest I'd be ready to leave the rest area.

Thanks Bobbie. We are heading out the door and out the driveway on our adventure now. Now did she say to turn north at I-5? See everyone soon.

Okay, Gina, before I lead Linda and Dale astray...

once I go through Tehachapi there are two routes, Mapquest has them as 2 minutes different in total time.

One goes through Boron, the other through Palmdale.

Which is better?

However, the earliest we can get there on Friday would probably be about 11pm. Would this late of an arrival be a problem and would it disturb others?
I have a 12 volt spot light to help you set up in the dark.

Go through Boron to the 395 and go south to the 15.

the 14 to Palmdale will lead you to the 138 on the west, and there is tons of construction and detours that way. Unfortunately for Carol and Jim, thats the way THEY have to go.

Will do.

I've got the car almost packed, and am almost ready to go.

Of course, the last minute things I have to pack tomorrow are the worst to forget. Ice, food, dogs...
