NL | No Rally this year

There will not be a Newfoundland rally this year though Ginny and I and Scouter Dave still plan to attend the music festival in Norris Point held within Gros Morne National Park. Ginny and I attended the music festival for four days last year and plan to attend all 10 days of the festival in 2014.

As well Ginny and I will be off to Fogo Island after the Music Festival. Two days ago USA Today had an article about Fogo. It turns out that the Flat Earth Society has designated Fogo as one of the 'four' corners of the world.

I recently took a Google Earth tour of Fogo and it looks like a very promising destination.

Norm, do not bypass Etheridge's Point!

Fogo also has a music festival in August and I believe it's held at Etheridge's Point. I'm certain we'll drive every road on the island and walk all over. Unfortunately we have to be home in July, So two months will have to do us.

Caril, have you been to Fogo and/or Chance Island?

By the way Fogo is warmer than our home town today.

Outside of Fogo and Chance Islands, there's only one road we haven't driven, the road to Harbour Breton, another our of the way community. Hopefully will have time for it in 2014.

Ginny keeps me on a leash a little in Newfoundland. I've already tried to talk her into two houses.

Dan, We did meet a couple from Europe that had their small motorhome packed up in Germany (because it was cheaper) and shipped to North America.

Actually Newfoundland is my favorite place in North America and I am quite happy to spend our two months there each year. Though we've explored most roads in Newfoundland, there are a number of car and non-car ferries we have not been on yet, particularly along the southern coast. Maybe 2015.

How is Scouter Dave doing? He hasn't been very active this past year on FGRV. I really enjoyed meeting him when he attended our Algonac gathering in 2012.

Scouter Dave is a very interesting and multi-talented guy. He writes well, handles a radio station 'mike' with ease and has a gentle engaging way with people. Ginny and I look forward to spending time with him at the music festival in Newfoundland.

On his way south he stopped for dinner with us and the extended family and gave the five children each a bracelet he had made. All the kids are now into making their own.
