Cool

HI all,
We haven't checked in for a while. We would like to be included on the name tag list, please.
We are bringing our best mexican train skills....look out.
Anxious to see everyone especially the fine folks in "The Tardis".
Can't emagine that the Tiki bar will appear, but who knows.
Hold a good thought for the weather.
Cheers,
Louise ....and John

We are so ready for a camping trip. It's been a long summer with no camping since our kitchen remodel took the front seat ahead of everything. I think I'm ready to show of my dutch-oven skills that I've been working on too. See you all soon.

Simon and I are looking forward to the Silverfalls NOG and will be arriving there on Thursday, Oct 9th.

With a nod to our NOG friends who enjoy Oregon's truly beautiful state parks and roadside rest stops, we get mentally ready for the trip by remembering that you know you're in Oregon when:

- You know the difference between Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon.
- You know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Issaquah, Oregon, Yakima, Willamette and Siskiyou.
- You consider swimming an indoor sport.
- In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark—while only working eight-hour days.
- You never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho.
- You are not fazed by "Today's forecast: showers followed by rain," and "Tomorrow's forecast: rain followed by showers."
- You have no concept of humidity without precipitation
- You can point to at least two volcanoes, even if you cannot see through the cloud cover.
- You notice, "The mountain is out" when it is a pretty day and you can actually see it.
- You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 50, but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
- You switch to your sandals when it gets about 60, but keep the socks on.
- You have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.
- You think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or people from California
- You buy new sunglasses every year, because you cannot find the old ones after such a long time.
- You measure distance in hours.
- You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
- You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.
- You know all the important seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Raining (Spring), Road Construction (Summer), Deer & Elk season (Fall).

See ya all soon! Sharen & Simon

That's us Sharen! Here's another.

When camping in the fall/winter/spring/summer a campfire is often used as a steam bath.

Pray to the sun gods for good weather!

I've got the Jeep and Scamp hitched up and packed.

Monday I leave for Monterey (golf tournament)
Wednesday about 9:00pm return home, so I can sleep in my own bed.
Thursday at "O" dark thirty head for Oregon.
Friday around noon arrive at Silver Falls.
Next week on Tuesday head to Salem to visit my cousin before turning south for California on Thursday.

Hey Linda & Dale I purchased a GPS before my Great Lakes trip haven't as yet downloaded any Caches but wondered if you had and were going to Geocache while at Silver Falls.

We'll bring our gps units with some caches loaded. I hear that there are some good ones out by the falls on the trails. Good idea Joy.

A couple of things - for those of you who might be interested in gardening, the Oregon Garden is fairly close by and worth a visit if you haven't been (it also has the Gordon House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright) http://www.oregongarden.org/index.html

Also -for you early birds - are we thinking Thursday potluck?

For those who are new - Friday's usually (Donna's) beans and weenie night around the NOG pit - in other words very casual, bring your own hot dogs and fixin's, Saturday potluck for the group and Sunday breakfast potluck.

Sound good?

Darn, if I would have know this rally was so close to such a major garden and a FLW attraction I could have made it a business trip in the name of education/research Have fun and someone go see this for me!

Well, since you asked. Early bird pot luck in space 36, with Linda and Dale. 6:30pm. Dutch ovens if you want. Everyone welcome.

And for those that are new to our ways, I will say this:
Bring something to share(food)
Your own plates, forks spoons and things
Your own chair
your own beverage.

We will provide
the campfire,
cover if needed,
tables to hold the pot luck
and games if anyone wants to play later.

I just visited the NOAA weather web site, and I am reasonably optimistic... still, fingers crossed (making it a bit of a challenge to use my keyboard ).

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Friday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66.

We're looking forward to this gathering, and thanks for the FLW and OR Gardens heads up. Did anyone else read "Loving Frank"?

Cheerios,
Sharen

For those that don't want to spend a lot of time making a name tag, Sample Sam came through my office last week and left me 100 name tag plastic badges. All you'd need to do is create something on paper.. no larger than 4-1/4 x 2-3/4 inches. I'll give you a plastic sleeve that can be pinned/clipped to a shirt/coat/hat. And yes, I have the pins and clips too. Can't make it any easier than that!
