Donna,
I think you covered it all, just counting down anxiously for our first camp out of the season.

I just received an email that says I should "pre-register" for our campout, but when I try I get a 404 error with instructions. When I try to follow those instructions I end up back at the 404 error again.

W'a's up?

It's not you Roger. I think everyone is getting that error... I know I just did. ReserveAmerica has made some changes, perhaps not eveything is finished. Try again in a couple of days.

HERE IS THE ANSWER:

Just received this email from Oregon Parks:

"Thank you for your email. Please disregard the pre-registration notice you received. These emails were inadvertantly sent out when the new reservation system was being tested. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. You do not need to pre-register at this time to use your reservation.

Thank you,

Sheri Miller

I won't be able to make it to the Silver Falls NOG meet, later this month. If anybody wants to secure my site before I turn it back to the Parks system, please let me know. I'll have to ask others who have done it, how I make this transaction. If anyone has any info, please let me know.
My direct email is: gardencoach[at]live.com

Thanks,
Barbara

It's looking like we will have to bow out of this gathering, as well. Just not enough time to get the girl completely up and running before then. I'd love to have my spot go to someone from the group, as well. (Of course, I don't remember off-hand which spot it was. Would have to check.)

Loving Silverfalls AND eager to reunite with NOG friends - this despite the fact that we are MOVING BLEEPIN HOUSE the following week - Simon and I are planning to be there, er, unless the weather turns abominable, then we'll bag it... 'nough to do as it is.

Anyway, as I purge and pack in preparation for our big lil move (we are moving from a 3100 s/f home to an 1800 s/f home, ONE BLOCK down the hill!) I've come across an old family photo. Let me see if I can upload it.

This is a photo of "The Maybe Not," a breadtruck coverted to cramper that my grandfather cobbled together (with pull-out cots, built-in vegetable can racks, and flip-up table... he was definitely out front of the cramping culture) during the Depression. The lil girl on the left front fender is my mother. Year is about 1930. My grandfather, Thaddeus Levitt Kerlin, drove this rig from NYS to FLA for the winter.

Sure 'splains wherefore my love of roadtrips and cramping comes from!

See you all very soon.

We're PLANNING on Sharen! I've been watching the weather stations and it looks like showers on Thursday and around mid-60s on F/S/S

That said...

Okay, time to talk about the less "fun" things.

Wet and cold.

We really don't know yet what the weather will bring. But last time we were at Silver Falls, it POURED Thursday night and into part of the day Friday. I'll bring my EZ-Up and if anyone else has one, please plan to bring it. With any luck we won't need them, but best to be prepared.

The second thing is COLD. Silver Falls is in a valley and you can bet it's going to get cold at night. There again, last time Mike and Nancy had their water hose freeze and it took until late afternoon for it to thaw out. So, plan on a cube heater... if you have one and have electric hookups or make certain your propane furnace is working and you have the desired alarms. It makes for a veeerrry long night if you're cold.

It was after this trip last time I swore I was never going to sleep that cold again and bought an electric blanket

Please see the previous page for two open sites! Barbara and Amy have both needed to cancel. AND you've got to read Sharen's post at the bottom and see that GREAT picture!

I just got this information on a Brewfest going on at the Oregon Garden while we are at Silver Falls camping. Here is the article for anyone who would be inclined to attend:

Brewfest is April 23-24

Forty breweries will descend on The Oregon Garden for the 6th annual Oregon Garden Brewfest later this month.

Brewfest is scheduled for 4 to 11 p.m. April 23 and noon to 11 p.m. April 24.

The event will be held inside the Garden's J. Frank Schmidt Jr. Pavilion, where attendees will enjoy flagship beers, seasonal beers, live music and hearty fare.

The event's $15 admission includes entrance to The Oregon Garden and to the Brewfest event, a commemorative pilsner glass, and five "tasting" tickets.

A two-day pass may be purchased for $25.

Designated drivers will be admitted free.

Minors with parents or a guardian also will be permitted free from noon to 4 p.m. April 24.

Breweries include Seven Brides, New Belgium, Deschutes, Blue Moon, Hoegaarden, Pale Horse and Laughing Dog Brewery.

Live music is planned for both days, and a variety of food booths will offer savory fare, such as chicken skewers, brisket, bratwurst and curly fries.

Onsite parking is $5 (free for Oregon Garden members) or there will be free parking at Robert Frost School and Safeway with complimentary shuttle service provided by The Oregon Garden.

For event information, visit www.oregongarden.org or call (503) 874-8100.

Another event that may be of interest is the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, OR which runs through April 25th. http://www.woodenshoe.com/tulip-fest/

Lots of fun things to do...blossoms and brew!

Hello~
We've had a minor medical situation, so we won't be making this gathering-but looking forward to either Maryhill or Taidapum.
We had site B30 for Thurs 4/22 to Sun 4/25-we cancelled on the automated phone line this evening at 9pm-so hopefully it would be
available in 24hr if anyone wanted to pick it up.
Thanks & Happy Camping
