Saturday afternoon is fine. We will be cooking other things in the dutch ovens. Thursday night we will do a deep dish pizza and a desert. If someone wants ice cream Friday then we can use Vivian's chocolate receipe for the ice cream.

I will bring all of the ingredients for the chocolate sauce and can make it on the trailer stove. I am going to try an experiment with ice cream and use fat free half and half and see if it is edible!

Hi everyone,

Sheila & I wish you all a great time! It's sounds like a good time will be had by all, tho bad for any diet program with all the ice cream and peeps . We blew it and did not make reservations last fall... and finally the snow has completely melted off our driveway and the casita is ready to make its spring time appearance. Instead, S&I are heading out on a casitaless road trip to visit friends in vegas...still, we will miss seeing all of you.

Enjoy!

hugs, D

Rats. Stuff happens, and I think you'll have a blast in Lost Wages. Keep in mind, we're NOGing again, October 10-12, 2008.... don't know exactly where yet, but if you check the topic on Monday 4/28... the information will be posted.

Have fun, be safe

I have a question for anybody: Where is the best place to find a used, stainless steel washer tub like the one at last Fall's NOG? I have called a local appliance repair place, and they have used porcelain tubs for $10, but no stainless tubs.

If I can't find a stainless tub, I'll probably spring for the porcelain one. It sure makes a difference sitting around the campfire!

Linda -- Bob and I will join your Thursday Dutch Oven potluck. Not sure what we'll bring yet, but we'll be there with the DO!

Do NOT buy a porcelain one. When it gets hot the porcelain starts cooking and it stinks and it's so bad you won't want to be near it. I'll bring the SS one I have, but won't be there until Friday afternoon. I checked with a repair place here in Portland and that had several (this was last summer), I'm thinking it's one of those things you need to check for at different places or keep checking back.

Thanks for the warning about the porcelain tub, Donna.

I'd like to put the word out - if someone is able to find a stainless steel tub in your area and you are able to bring it to the NOG, I would HAPPILY pay you for it. I've heard the stainless tubs go for around $20 or so. I'd really like to have one for our camping trips this summer!

See you all in a few short weeks. We are in for a BEAUTIFUL weekend in Oregon this weekend... sure would be nice if the good weather returns for us during the NOG!

Okay, its time to get serious. Less than two weeks away. Actually only 11 days until we leave. We have to work next weekend so are looking to get things lined up for the NOG.

1. Are we having a community breakfast? Since no one has organized it, are we just going to have a breakfast pot luck or since some people like to sleep in should we just have a brunch lunch thing before some people head home?

2. Are we having a beer exchange on Friday? I have been eyeing some I thought about bringing.

3. My son just tried fire roasted peeps and he wished us luck with our experiment. If it doesn't work, then I sure have a lot of freezer staled peeps to share with Gina next month.

4. Early bird potluck is open to everyone but we are featuring cast iron dutch ovens and are open to anyone who might want to come and watch to see how its done. If you don't have a dutch oven bring what ever you want, salads are good since its hard to cook a salad in a DO. Desert? very good. Everything is good.

5. Don't forget your bikes. Our will be folded in the back.

6. Don't forget to tell the sun to shine, it was a gorgous weekend this weekend. Just like we would want to order for the NOG. Weather guy says next weekend it will be wet and rainy so hopefully it will be out of its system and ready for more sun.

7. Apple crisp and ice cream on Saturday afternoon?

8. Demonstration by Byron Saturday morning.

9. What did I forget. Oh, bring firewood.

It's almost time. Time to start camping and say goodby to the winter blues.

We need tables for the potlucks too.

And, don't forget your name tags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay on the beer exchange on Friday night.

No potluck Friday night, but we'll have a big fire going in the NOG tub if you want to roast a hotdog or two before you crisp your Peeps.

I don't eat breakfast, unless you count gallons of coffee. If someone wants to organize the Sunday breakfast... have at it.

Sun, everyone is tasked with bringing Sun

and we get that by bringing E-Z Ups if you have them.

We are departing tomorrow (14th) for the first trip of 2008. After much debate, but final consensus, Blackjack stays home! We are first heading to Sea & Sand RV Park just north of Depoe Bay for a week (with a lunch stop at Spirit Mt) and then to NOG. Today we are exhausted after packing everything aboard the Casita so decided to sit back, relax and watch the Mariners sweep the Angels. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at NOG with our dutch ovens, horseshoes, good books, etc. We hope to be able to drag along our Yakima Valley sun as well. See you all at NOG

What sun. Last time we were up your way, just a few weeks ago it was a blizzard. Snowed all day on us. You guys can keep the snow. We look forward to seeing you, drive safe.

Hey Gil and Kathy,

I hope you have fun and the Sea and Sand. That is our favorite place to go for storm watching (we leave the kids home). The terraced parking make for a great view of the ocean and the sites are wide enough that we park our Scamp sideways so we can have a nice view out the dinnette or the loft.

We can't wait to start camping less than 2 weeks
