Hmm, end of October. Could be a cold rain in store. How about a couple of EZ-up type shelters end-to-end with a small, wet jump between? Maybe not the best protection in a rain with wind. What's the damage for the pavilion reservation? Maybe I can look that up on their site.

I placed the pavilion on hold. I'll call and check to be sure. They want $70 and this includes the kitchen, I'll check. I was going to pay for this myself.

Would be fairer if we split the fee (about 70 ways), but I probably wouldn't choke over 5 to 10 bucks.

Just spoke with Greg @ Burnt Cabins, the owner. I asked if we can use the pavilion as a meeting place, appetizers friday evening, coffee Sat am, pot luck Sat afternoon. I explained that some members bring along a 10x10 shelter for inclement weather.
He said if we are not using the kitchen, then we can use the tables/space, free of charge and will put our rigs near the pavilion in the new 80' pull thru double spaces seen in the pictures I posted. It is Halloween weekend and he did say they will have something for the children, a spook walk that will meet at the pavilion at dusk, saturday night and wind thru the c/g. But the pavilion is big enough for both groups if we are still there.
Depending on weather, we may do a pot luck in late afternoon on Saturday and by darkness be ready to do the spook walk!!!
So leave your pop up shelters at home if you want, plus did I say the price for the pavilion use is -0-, free!! But bring your appetites.
He also said with the wet summer that the fall leaves should be peaking in late October this year.

How bout that! Little thin on those "40 acre" rigs that time of year? We saw a monster with maybe 4 bumpouts pulled by a commerical tractor at Mt. Pocono summer of '11. A KOA employee told me that getting it docked was no picnic. I wondered how the driver got it safely to the KOA entrance. Maybe if all oncoming traffic backs up or drives into the ditch, there's no problem?

We're booked. We may try to prolong our stay in the area. I always liked Owens Creek park in the Catoctins; about 57 miles south from Burnt Cabins. Might stay there couple nites midweek before the rally. 51 no utilities sites; all tent or trailer; to best of my recollection there are some sidehill sites you wouldn't really want to put a trailer on and others lower down that are fine for either tent or trailer. I think Owens Creek fills up on Friday so should have a shot midweek.

I'm thinking of bringing my Cobb and cooking a nice roast on it for Saturday. Friday I'm going to partake in some fresh baked rolls with deli meats from the cg deli. They have fresh milled flour available and pancake mixes if you want to take some home. The mill tour is also interesting, most of the gears/machinery are made from wood.

Jim,
Thanks for putting this together. We missed the earlier rally. For you, this may be like seeing your old EggCamper. I stole several of your ideas and implemented them on ours.

According to the paper today, prime leaf color changes here in Pa. will be occurring in the next 2-3 weeks due to the warmer temperatures. Looks like a great time to be at Burnt Cabins, surrounded by woods in central Pennsylvania. Bring your cameras.

According to mapquest, 11 hours, 690 miles-exit #180 off Pa Turnpike, this would put you #! for the long distance award. Try to stop one night at least-I'll be arriving lunchtime on Friday and we have a pavilion available for Saturday in case of inclement weather for the pot luck. They also have on premises home made sandwiches.
Glad you can make it.
