Talking

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to this list, to dutch ovens and to Fiberglass RVs.
I would like to observe the cooking class if that is ok? I will not be around for the tasting as I have to leave around 5m... This event will be a whole new experiance for me as I am a tent camper at this moment! I'm looking to get a trailer soon, now that I know I can pull one with my Toyota Tacoma! Julie in Klamath Falls

Hi Julie,

I don't think Mike and Lori will mind if you come and watch. I'm betting they may even put you to work chopping up food.

[b]Dutch Oven Workshop

Lori & I have volunteered to put on another Dutch Oven Workshop this year.

Last summer we went to the National Chuck Wagon Cook Off in Ruidoso, New Mexico sponsored by the Hubbard Museum & the Smithsonian Institute.

We had so much fun and the food was great. We have many new ideas. Would you like to help us put it on?

Hello Mike and Lori,
We would enjoy participating in the Dutch Oven class. My wife and I have two DO's and our son also wants to try his hand at camp cooking.

What should we bring, besides the ovens and briquettes?

Thanks, Randy, Teri and Conrad

Hi all,

We're already on the road, headed for the Oregon Gathering (by way of family and friends in Washington and BC).

I brought along extra recipes, for the last minute additions. Randy and Teri, please check your PMs (personal messages, upper right hand corner) for more information. Thanks.

Hi, we are planning to be there tomorrow. Is it too late to sign up for the Dutch Oven class? Could we just watch you cook?

Come see us in B22 Friday and we’ll talk about it. Do you have a “Camp” Dutch Oven?

The class starts in 6 hours. Sign ups are now closed.

Well, if you can get here we’ll still take you. We have one Okra recipe left.

Mike and Lori, that was by far one of the most organized and best demonstrations I have ever seen in my entire life. When we first arrived, I looked at the planning sheet on what time an oven was supposed to be fired up so it would cook and be done on schedule and I thought, "Oh this will be interesting. haha." Well Lori knew not only when to start the heat but how many briquettes to stick under and over. Everything was done at the same time - 5:30 p.m. Thanks for a great time and a well organized demo.

Now I gotta go out and buy a dutch oven. If you folks have not been to an Oregon Gathering, make plans to go next year. Its a great group of people and a lot of fun. Will I be back?? Well, we'd love to but with so much country to see we'll more than likely be in another part of the country. Again, thank you Nancy and your crew of volunteers, they did an excellent job of putting this whole shabang together.

We are now preparing to get on the ferry to Vancouver Island with a bunch from the Gathering - 9 Casitas and a Trek MH. Will send pics later.

Bonnie and I would also like to express our appreciation to Lori and Mike for the excellent workshop. Is it really a "workshop" if you get to eat the results of your labor. It was great. Thank you..Jerry
