It's always good to see Tom and Martha Jo. A more wonderful couple would be hard to find. Tom has agreed to again present a Dutch Oven demo, which he says will provide more tips and information than last time.

Their's will probably be the oldest and most unusual trailer, too.

Bluebonnet is over and from all accounts was great fun! Now it's time to turn our attention to PINEKNOT-III. We have been working behind the scenes already to get entertainment, seminars, and food arrangements lined up. We are hoping to make number three the best one yet!

The Crimestoppers Band has us on their schedule for Friday night. Tom T has agreed to again share his Dutch Oven cooking talents with us. We are planning to have the usual Tour of Eggs, potlucks, a group lunch at a local eatery... and maybe an unusual seminar or two. We also plan to have horseshoes, a pet show, table games, a coffee-and-donut breakfast, and a swap meet. All this plus free time to visit with new and old friends will make for an excellent get together.

We are encouraged by the number of folks who have registered already. If you are not among this group, please consider registering ASAP. Having a good idea early of how many will be attending helps a lot in making plans.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

As of this morning (May 8) nineteen units have registered--and PineKnot-III is still five months away. This is great! If I remember right, we didn't have that many registered when we were one month away from our first get-together. I'll post an updated list in a few days.

Meanwhile---

Paul B. of Stillwater OK put this on his registration form: "Will play mountain dulcimer tunes for coffee, or for anyone else that can tolerate my playing." In a later email, he added, "I will bring some extra dulcimers, free lessons for anyone interested." We are certainly looking forward to hearing Paul. If there are any others out there who have talents to share with us, please don't be bashful and speak up now. Your participation will be greatly appreciated.

Fred D. has agreed to set up horseshoes for anyone who leans toward that activity--pun intended.

Trooper John H. of the Texas DPS has agreed to come and give us a program on highway safety, trailer towing and other traffic laws, etc. John is a great guy and will be interesting and informative to hear.

So if you have not registered with us and made reservations at Tonkawa, please do so now. The URLs are on the lead post on this thread.

Be back with you soon!

FOR THE HISTORY BUFFS AMONG US...

About fifteen miles South of Camp Tonkawa Springs lies the City of Nacogdoches, Texas. This bustling place is the home of Stephen F Austin State University, but its main claim to fame is its being the oldest town in Texas.

Most of Texas has been under six flags during its history. Nacogdoches has been under Nine Flags. The extra three are the Long Republic, The Magee-Guiterrez Republic, and The Fredonia Republic. Follow the link and you will find the story of The Fredonia to be quite interesting.

The Fredonia Hotel is on Hospital Street near Downtown Nacogdoches. Inside, you will find a tribute to the Space Shuttle Columbia that disintegrated in the East Texas sky in February, 2003. The Fredonia's restaurant serves a great buffet lunch from Sunday through Friday.

The Nine Flags:

JUNE 15 Update

Those who have registered so far

As you can see, participation this year should be excellent. If you have not reserved and registered, please do it ASAP.

We are still asking for you talented people to speak up and participate in a Talent Show. Other than that, we are now in the process of fine-tuning the schedule.

Your suggestions are always appreciated.

Paul S

Just a reminder...

PineKnot-III is still 3 1/2 months away and as of this moment, we have 36 eggs registered. Last year, we had about fifty to show up. This year, it will probably be more--and we are delighted that it has been so well received.

I talked with the folks at Camp Tonkawa Springs today to discuss their capacity. They don't think they will have a problem accommodating all of us, but just in case, please remember we discussed the options last year, which are----

Some can use their tent spaces-- these are large enough but do not have sewer connections and have 20 amp electrical service.

Some can "double up" in the full hookup section. The spaces are plenty large enough for this. The only problem is that the sewer connection will have to be shared. (Since most of us connect only when it is time to dump, this should be a minor inconvenience).

I don't think there will be a problem, but did want you all to be aware.

Paul B from Stillwater OK is officially on our schedule to entertain us with his mountain dulcimer on Thursday evening. He will also be available to give lessons to PineKnotters on Friday. Here is a picture of Paul and a group of kids who are enjoying his music.

We are looking for more talented folks to show their stuff on Saturday evening during our farewell get-together.

THIRTEEN Registered in Past Two WEEKS; Total now at FORTY-FIVE Trailers

The schedule of events is coming together nicely. Everything is GO for a fun, entertaining, and educational get together. We have at least four people who will be demonstrating their musical abilities at the Talent Show on the Saturday night.

Here is an updated roster of those who have registered. (As far as we know, everyone who has contacted Tonkawa has registered with us also; and everyone listed below has contacted Tonkawa. Please contact us if you have not done both).

It looks as if attendance will be a record breaker. We want to remind you of the previous post where we pointed out that last year, we decided to double-up in the campsites if necessary.

Great,

Right now I think you will be the 3rd 5vr. Last year there were 4 and I know 2 of those 4 will not be there. Sure would be nice to have 5 or more to break last years record. Do you think you may be able to talk any other 5vr's into coming?

Plans are firming up, the program is almost ready to be printed, and everyone is anticipating a great get-together. There will be lots to do yet there will be plenty of time for resting, relaxing, and socializing.

Eight more have signed up since the last roster was posted for a grand total of fifty-three. Here is the complete list.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Paul,
My wife's brother (Masao) from Japan has decided to join us. So, that will make 3 of us (we are #7 on your list). This will be quite an experience for him.
