Hi Steve

Just wondering, are you planning to meet all of us in Quartzsite January 14-17?
It was a thought and we tried to schedule it but unfortunately we won't be able to attend.

Ok Carol, Oreo said we can head up on Fri. and stay until Mon. She is hoping for a warmer and drier ride then last time in Quartzsite but she will take what she can get. See you all then.

Thank you Oreo.

We'll look forward to seeing you on Friday. Bring Pat and Arleen safely there and we'll plan for great weather.

Thank you, Carol & Jim, for getting this super group together. The weekend was surely blessed with gorgeous weather! It was good to see you again, and meet some other FGRV-ers like Ches, Marie and "the beautiful sister"! We appreciate being included in the dinner fun even 'tho we didn't join in 'circling the wagons' out in the BLM camping area this time. To all, safe journeys and happy memories. We look forward to seeing many of you again at the Feb. Dome Rock rally. Regards, L 'n D

Well... we tried.
Northbound on I-215 near the highway 74 interchange, the transmission failed in our 2003 Honda Odyssey LX that has 98,600 miles on it.
Lucky for me I had just enrolled in Good Sam's Emergency Road Service. They found a Honda Dealership in Hemet, CA on highway 74 only 5 miles from where we broke down. The tow brought both the Odyssey and the Fiber Stream to Hemet, planning to take the trailer to the local campground. While at the Honda Dealer, I called friends in Palm Springs who rescued us: they brought their Suburban and towed the Fiber Stream to their campground. I canceled the rest of the Good Sam service, and we spent the weekend in Palm Springs, and then our friends towed the Fiber Stream home to San Diego today.

The Hemet Honda Dealer will call us Monday with the diagnosis...

Hi Fred - A transmission is costly, but I'm glad that it was nothing more serious like an accident or a mechanical failure that could have caused an accident. We had beautiful weather and are sorry that you didn't make it. There's always the February group or next year!

Chris

Phew - yep, thank goodness neither of you, or the FS, was 'damaged'. This is just the type of ugly surprise we expect to avoid since we traded our minivan at nearly 180K miles! Sure hope we get the same great long-term performance as the Mazda gave us from "Overkyl", our Ford E350 beast.

We know how much you love your Odyssey and we pray everything can be put right by the shop. You were missed, and missed a great weekend. Hope you'll both be able to make the trip to the desert in February! Take care, L 'n D
