Rally...Any interest UHaul Owners?

Would it be fun to try to have a UHaul Rally? It was so great to meet Bob and Mary and their UHaul, Blueberry, this winter. UHauls and owners we have seen and met so far are George and Rhonda, NC, Don from Florida, Mark and Cindy from Mn, Patsy and Tom from Ca. Bob, I know you would like to meet face to face some of those fiesty UHaul FBGRVers.

What do you UHaul folks think? Would we get more than the two UHauls? We tried to have an informal rally at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia, SC last April but had to cancel because Jane had to return to Iowa to care for her Dad.

If any interest, any suggestions as to a good central location. Not sure where most of you UHaul owners are located.

We are definitely interested, but date and location are the tough items. Since we are not yet retired, trips need to be carefully planned! Just to get the conversation started, maybe we should try to see who is interested and where they live or are traveling this year. Then a central spot can be located. Just based on your location and our location, Kentucky would be about half way. They have wonderful state parks there!

I'll throw out a date, too: July 5-7. OK, now the conversation can begin! (Of course, I didn't check any of this with my wife. Is that a bad thing?)

Kevin, are you going to Florida next winter? It's our plan to be in the same location again next December through February. We were going all over Florida this month, but cancelled it all and stayed put in GA. We have only seen two other CT Uhauls, and the one VT that was for sale near us.
Edit, central New York is nice, or the Adirondaks! LOL

We do a teardrop rally in early June in the Adirondaks, there have been a couple Scamps in attendance at times. We use our teardrop for this one, not the Uhaul.

Yes, a Rally would be nice, and Rhonda and I would be interested in attending; however I already see a trend starting, there could be a hundred responses with a hundred suggestions of locations and times. So, I'll sit back for a while and see which direction this discussion takes. But yes...we are interested!

We are good with Watkins Glen. Unfortunately unless a rally is close like that would be we probably could not attend. Too many things already planned for this summer to make a long trip. Watkins Glen would be doable if the dates work out. Makes a real long trip for Jane though, but we'll see her and Greg when we go back south next winter.

Mardi Gras impacts those of us who still work. And I work a job where my vacations are dictated by the school year.

New York is not very central for many of us. How about somewhere in PA or OH?

George, any campgrounds near you in NC? We're heading back north end of this month after a few days at Hunting Island SC.

I'll be camping close to home in Michigan this summer, due to job limitations on time off. Ah, the retirement horizon is so gosh-durn FAR away (sob)....

We had two CTs and 2 VTs at the Algonac State Park gathering last fall in Michigan. Maybe that would be a good place for more UHauls to meet. The one this year is the weekend of Labor Day.

Kevin, Maybe you meant the weekend 'after' Labor Day? The Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble 2013 is being held Sept 6-8. (Labor day is Monday, Sept 2). Me and my little UHaul are planning to go back again this year. Woop! Woop! Calling all rummy gummy bears!

I have been bean counting those interested in a UHAUL RALLY. As the list grows, maybe we can determine the best location for a rally. Here is the list by state:

CA: Lynne VDK (Lynne); PKTAJensen (Tom and Pat)
NY: Mary and Bob (Bob and Mary); Kirkman (Jason)
CT: Joseph Kristan (Jo Jo)
PA: CPAharley2008 (Jim) (Not a UHaul owner, but interested in our Rally, and is most welcome to attend)
SC: JaneSC (Greg and Jane)
NC: George Lauver (George and Rhonda)
FL: Djtriceflt (Don)
IL: Kevin A and Cindy L (Kevin and Cindy)
MI: Pam Garlow (Pam)

Gee, even if we don't get the rally together, it has been interesting to compile this list to see who and where our fellow UHAUL are.

I'm not a rally person but I'll toss in my two cents.

I'd open it to all FG trailers - maybe call it UHaulers and Friends or something.

Set up a location and date. It will build on itself once people have something tangible to plan around.
