Smile Coming to Scamp Camp

Although he reads almost every day, Craig and I haven't posted for a while, but we've been busy camping since I finally retired for real (long story involving a boss who can't let go and me being unable to say "no"...done with that).

Wanted to post that we are coming to Scamp Camp and really excited about meeting you folks.

We'll be in Site #76 from Sunday - Thursday nights and then have to move to the wilderness section (#P16) Friday thru Saturday nights leaving on Sunday for the remainder of our 6 week adventure.

Looking forward to a great time and making some new friends.

J and C

Emily, Check out Paynes Prairie Preserve State park, you get water & electric for $18. I live just over an hour south of Gainesville and HH is about 3.5-4 hours south of me. Other than Paynes Prairie there isn't a whole lot very close to the highway that I can think of. A couple of Walmarts, in either Gainesville or Ocala. Oh, hey, there is a Cracker Barrel right off exit 350 in Ocala. That might work for you, it would be about 35 minutes south of Gainesville. I'm not heading to Scamp Camp but understand it is a good time so enjoy.

Will you be bringing your kayaks? Arbuckle creek is a nice paddle we found last year. We haven't decided if we'll bring ours this year, since we had to push our arrival back to Wednesday due to our kids visiting us while passing through from out of country.

Yup...Have Kayaks Will Travel

We also have a site change for the last 2 nights. Opening came up a few sites away so won't have to move to the primitive section after all.

We're looking forward to meeting everyone.

Visitors?

Just wondering............ could we stop by for a visit with all the Scamp people in Sebring. We bought a new Scamp 16' deluxe from Backus last year and used it many times. This year we're not camping but staying through March at a condo we rented.

We have been investigating many of the State parks and National Forests of Florida while we are here as we intend to camp in Florida next year with our Scamp. I'm sure we could learn a lot from you seasoned Scampers

So are visitors welcome or do you need to be actually camping there?

Thanks,

Tim and Janice

Visitors are always welcome! That's how a lot of people get acquainted with Scamps. We actually went to our first Scamp Camp in Sebring with a pop-up and bought a Scamp less than a month later.
Looks like Wednesday morning is the scheduled "trailer tour" but most people are willing to let you check their campers out anytime during the week while they are there.
You would probably have to pay admission at the gate to get in, but since you are already checking out FL state parks you might already have an annual state park pass for free admission.
