Scamp Camp #15 Sebring FL Feb 11-15, 2013

Announcing the ORIGINAL Scamp Camp -- Year #15 at Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring, FL. This is the longest running Scamp (and other fiberglass) get-together in the USA.

Dates are: February 11-15 (departing Saturday 16th)

(Spread the word... some sources are announcing the date as 18-23, which is not correct.)

As of today, 8/4/12, we have 25 trailers registered for this event.

If you are not registered, go to www.ReserveAmerica.com to secure a campsite. Then contact Dick and Lynda Freed @ richfreed@aol.com or phone 814.449.9596 to give us your site number and camper information. All fiberglass campers are welcome to register... We even have some members who are not owners of fiberglass trailers. Come one, Come all!

Once you are registered, feel free to post here with your information, or if you have any questions.

See you in Feb!

I don't think they will let us Double-Up?

What you need to do is stalk the reservations site several times a day, something will likely open up.
Then snag the first thing you see in the main CG and if something better comes up,switch.

It requires a commitment, dedication, diligence and luck!

Also just call the park ranger station and feel it out with them and make sure what I just suggested will work?

See you are having fun with it already!

Eariler today there were several sites available from the 11th for four days. You would be arriving Monday and leaving Friday. I think there were some other sites available for Friday night only if you wanted to stay until Sat. but you would have to move. The available sites were in the first loop, the front sites in that loop see a lot of traffic and headlights at night so the middle and back sites are best. FYI site 11 is in the back and next to the sidewalk to the bath.
Eddie
You can reserve one of these 4 day campsites and if one opens up for the full time you can move your reservation and add an extra day for $10 penalty and the site fee and not have to move.

We have made reservations for the rally at Highland Hammocks, Florida. Does anyone have any details on activities, get-togethers, etc.

I checked the park website and as of Thursday 12/27 /2012 there were only 4 sites available , all 4 were tent only . Were you able to find RV sites today at the park? We were interested in going but the park appeared to be full

It might be a good idea to call the campground to see if you can fit your egg on a tent-only campsite. Sometimes the term "tent only" refers to a smaller campsite which wouldn't be large enough for a class A type RV.

We got an RV site (#12) and I think it was the last one available. I don't know if tent sites have water or electrical hookups. Good idea to check with the park for details.

I checked this morning and the available tent sites do not have water or electricity .I ran the idea past my wife but no way . It is my own fault for procrastinating to such a late date . Thank you for your response , hope you have a great time. Say Hi to Floyd for me

That's me!
Eating might be the main activity, with potluck dinners, campfires and the annual trip to Homer' buffet.
The park and surrounding area is great for bicycling and hiking.
There's is a guided park tour on a "Trolley Trailer" too!
Sebring raceway is nearby, and plenty of shopping.
There will be plenty of veteran Scampers who have learned all the great places to visit, so mix , mingle, relax and enjoy.
Contact the hosts, Dick and Lynda Freed to report your information.
Or contact me directly if you wish more details.

Stop by and get aquainted, Hope to see you there! Deb and I are on Site #77.

We've attended this rally before we picked up our Scamp. I learned so much from the people there. I left with a list of things to do to my future Scamp. I still have not implemented all I learned.

There was also a very good question and answer session where the experience of many was truly beneficial.

Nice people with a lot of knowledge.
