My traveling pal and partner is in need of a ride to Champoeg on Fri evening. she can't get off work until 4:30 or so. We live in Ballard which is real close to the dreaded I-5.She doesn't take up much room and I have alll the gear. Pitching in for 4.00 gas is a for sure. Please let me know soon. The plane is an option but, an expensive and time consuming one.

thanks to all
cell phone for her is 206-550-8160

The train lets off in Salem. That wouldn't be as much as a plane.

Eeewwwww, that's an UGLY, UGLY time to drive thru Seattle, Olympia & Portland on a Friday. I am unfortunately leaving around 10 a.m. to attempt to avoid all that ugliness. I agree, the train would a good option. I checked, she could catch it in Seattle at 5:25 and arrive Portland @ 9, Oregon City @ 9:21 or Salem @ 10:07, whichever would be closer. Fare from Seattle to Salem is $57.00.

Carole,

She could catch a 7:30 a.m. Saturday, but would have to take the bus from Portland arriving @ 12:30 in Salem. A half hour wait then an hour ride. Seems like it would be better to pick her up in Portland @ 11:00. Otherwise the 1st direct is at 9:45 arriving Salem @ 3:37. Not very attractive.

I wouldn't want to stop in Portland, too much city to go through to get to Union Station. Salem or Oregon City are much easier depots to get to.

Friday evening with about a hour round trip to Oregon City might be the best bet. Which would put everybody back a Champoeg before 10m.

Just my $2 Cents worth.
