Standard greeting if pulled over by cops in Ontario is "hello, can I see your lisence, ownership (registration) and insurance"

Hi: cpaharley2008... "Holy Cows" have gott'n expensive these days.
I have never been asked to show proof of ownership but I have been asked on the US. side if I owned both truck and trailer.
Since being searched and loosing two roasted heads of garlic and 1/2 a washed red pepper we are watching what we bring into the US.

I'm more concerned with Canadian officials allowing me to take a Canadian made trailer out of the country, again!!
I went to title the Escape 19' yesterday at the local agency, the title agency took my $1950 taxes, but since it is an import, could not get tags until paperwork is approved at PennDot. There was a question re: Certificate of Origin not looking/appearing to be genuine. Wait and see.

Alf,
Much of the expense is the taxes he should not have paid here. If he did he should get some of the HST back under NAFTA. Remember paying taxes when you bought yours? I'm not sure what a new 19'er is worth but when you add the 13% we would have to pay here, it would only take $15,000 to hit $1950 in taxes.

Like wise for being asked on the US side who owned the vehicle and who owned the trailer, but as two separate questions, was never asked to provide proof.

we just changed our reservation for the meet. if anyone wants an extended trip we will be there on sept 13 and will leave the 17th. figured it was time for a mini vacation and couldnt think of a better place to do that. For anyone on the fence about joining the rally, just jump on in and show up. this is a really good group of friends and you cant beat the view. campground is small and spots are not large but we all love this little place. see you all there. and Alf, make sure you put in your normal weather request for this weekend again. seems to work good so far.

Well, I'm back in the east early enough to make the party, so I just made a reservation. She didn't give me a site number, but I suspect it will be in the park!

Hi: cpaharley2008...You think you've got troubles...We've been "Black listed" by the Border patrol in Maine for trying to smuggle 1/4 of an American Red Pepper back into the US. He threatened me with a $300.00 fine for not declaring it!!! My guess is the red pepper switched parties while in Canada and the guy is a Dem.
Looking forward to meeting you at the Falls

Still no title/registration, I'm trying to transfer my old tags which I'm using on the Escape right now.Paid my fees but bureaucracy is so slow. If worse come to worse I will not have a current Escape registration. If they refuse to let me in without that then I'll be stuck in US, otherwise we will be there next Thurs afternoon.

When you go into Canada they will ask you your TV plate number.
They can't see it because the trailer blocks there camera.
Have your plate number handy and you will be okay.

I've had them ask for both Tow Vehicle and trailer plate numbers heading into the US. I thought it was another trick question. Now it makes sense.

I forgot my passport when the new rules first came into effect. Had to go into the office to explain and ask permission. One of the questions was the last 4 digits of my "social security" number, the US has 4 digits in the last group, we have 3. I had to write it out to give him the last 4. Thought that was going to trip me up until I showed him my card and explained the difference.

Hi. My wife and I have booked site 74 for 14, 15 & 16. We just bought our 1st FG - 1972 Trillium. Needs a lot of work but we're enjoying working on it. Went to the MEET in Wainfleet just 3 weeks after we got "Matilda". Loved it. Looking forward to meeting the group in Niagara (we live 5 min. away from the park lol) Hope to pick up some good ideas and advice. There was mention of a pot luck on Sat? What is required for this?

Lenny, great that you've decided to come. The more, the merrier. For the potluck - It is a true potluck. Bring a dish. It can be appetizer, main or dessert and it is on Saturday. We all meet at Alf and Maryanne's site at dinner time, eat, talk and have a raffle.

Hi. Unfortunately due to a family situation we have had to cancel this weekend. We were booked for site 74 so if there is anyone out there that still wants to book this site it is available. We cancelled this morning.
Maybe we can try again next year. Alf - sorry about the Turkey lol.

Well, I'm legal now, just got my tags/registration so no more cloak and dagger in crossing the border. As far as pot luck, since we can not bring meat/fruit/vegetables across border, I'm bringing some ole fashion southern style baked beans made by the Amish. I figure Alf will need some help with more hot air !!!
