Banff/Jasper

We camped at the Whistlers campground just outside Jasper last year. The one tourist that grated on me was the guy from Wisconsin washing his "toad" SUV [connected to the 40'motorcoach]at the sanistation. There are clearly marked signs not to use the water at the station for washing vehicles.

Oblivious to the line of folks waiting for him to finish so they could proceed to dump.:zz

Otherwise a great trip, busloads of tourists 'n all.

Some "tourists" will go anywhere and do anything, I guess thinking normal rules don't apply to them on vacation. I have found 3 different groups in the middle of my land on different occasions. One family I found fishing in the middle of my place had gone thru one gate at the road which was padlocked, by lifting it off the hinges at the other end.Drove over a mile on a private gravel road, past two houses. Then thru 2 other gates both closed and with "No Trespassing" Texas Cattlemans Association" signs on them. Drove another mile and 1/2 to my largest pond to picnic and fish.
When I asked them what they were doing the answer was "We thought in Texas all rivers were public property" And I found one fellow with his chainsaw happily clearing himself a campsite next to my creek, said he thought he was on someone else's property.
At least none of them were pulling trailers.

My Mother

A little on this Charly My mother who is 91 years and still camps every year was taught this by her Father in the early 20s when that is the way it was done. You just pulled over in some farmers pasture and made yourself at home. She still thinks this is OK. I have a farm also and people would be welcome to stay the night if they asked. My place isnít as large as yours must be. My single brother will be taking her and her sister again this year. This is a picture of them at Preachers point Alberta Canada Last fall

These two have looked through some 170 years of campfire smoke.

So Lyndon, where is "mid southish Minnesota"? I'm in Ely now, but grew up in Waite Park/St. Cloud area.

Nice Boat Steve!! I cant show that to my husband, he LOVES to sail. Problem is, I get sick, so he is always going without me, and I get to see the pictures. He usually goes with his parents, who have captains licenses.

I have noticed that you can be the ONLY one in the campground, and they park right next to you. I try to pick spots were the dogs wont bother anyone, and sure enough, they come in. Do they get lonely? Scared? It must be like when you work in retail, and it can be SO dead and then 40 people walk through the door at the same time, and everybody complains that they should have more staff. Never fails.
