We're game to do Valentines weekend at DeRose if there's interest. If you remember/went last year, unfortunately I can't find the old posting, but maybe someone else can. DeRose Winery is located near Hollister, CA. This will be our third year. DeRose has a large parking lot they let us use--totally dry camping--we bring chairs, tables, fire pit, and anything else we need--no hookups or water available. Generally, it's also been dry weather, but that's not guaranteed! There are several other wineries located in the area. Pat DeRose is a wonderful host and contributes wine and grape vines (for our campfire). We once again have a leg of lamb to contribute. There's room for about 12 trailers--I think that's what we had last year. Even non-drinkers are welcome and had a good time last year.

Do folks contact you Nancy if they're interested in more info?

The dates are Sat & Sun Feb 11 and 12. See Glen's posting for Friday and Monday camping nearby (thanks Glen for the pix!) Yes, send me an email or message here and I'll begin to put up more info. So far, it looks like Mike Kelley and his wife (sorry, I forgot her name), Glen & Rita, Mike & Lori (potentially) and us.
Great! I heard back from Al DeRose--he says "come on down"! I'll bring the leg of lamb and the fire pit. Can we get some volunteers for other Saturday night dinner? We'll need dessert, salad, bread, a rice/potato dish, and loads of appetizers! It would also be fun to share Sunday brunch. We should also have rain protection--just in case!

I stopped by the Fairgrounds this morning and made my reservation ($12) for Friday night.
We need to be in the fairgrounds before 5 pm as they lock the gate. Not to worry I think we can get a key again.
Dinner will be at the Veranda Bakery Cafe just a mile up the road in Tras Pinios.

I'd like to bring a cheese tray for the wine tasting and afterwards, if that's OK. Buying cheese is my second greatest camping pleasure after eating it!
Whether we get the key is critical to whether Tao and I stay somewhere on the way up rather than the Fairgrounds. We'll never make it by 5 p.m. In fact, last year the folk at the bakery were nice enough to feed us while they were cleaning the place up after closing!
If our group does get the key, we'll need the phone number of the person who has it.
Something came up and I got tickets to Chicago. We are going to have to skip this year at DeRose. I was waiting all year for this trip.

Not at all, Roy--we'd be happy to have you up until we've all had too much Zin to notice! For anyone who hasn't gone before, we'll be in the parking lot across the street (Cienega ?Road) from the actual tasting room. If you get there before any of us show up, just pull along side the road and taste some wine--we'll be along shortly--by noon or earlier. Bring something chocolate and we'll let you in!!

About the Key...
We'll pick it up in the afternoon, so no need to worry about getting in.

T. and I are going to keep our options open for Friday night and not make reservations. We may be in the Vacaville area Friday night and decide to stay up there, or we may be late. If we get stuck we can always stay with T's ex-brother-in-law nearby.
Looks like we're in line for perfect weather! We have plenty of room for any last minute signups! We could use a green salad for Saturday dinner, and dessert commitment. We'll do the wine tasting around 3:00. I'm getting excited--we haven't been out with Pearl for a long time.
The bad new is: I'm not sure we can make it. On our last outing with the Billings and the Uptons, Tao was stricken with a severe case of refrigerator envy. He bought a new one with a freezer, and tore the old one out leaving a hole in the side of the trailer.
The good news is: we've been so busy at work that we haven't had the time to put in heavier guage wiring and install the new one. We're still hoping that we'll be able to get it done in time. It should only take a couple of hours, but I thought I'd let you all know.
Incidentally, I'm going to post the old refrig on the site as a giveaway. If anybody knows anyone who needs a free 3-way Bar or Trailer Refrigerator, Dometic RM36, from our 1979 Trillium that works off propane, let us know. The 120AC and 12DC does not work. It is 28-3/4Hi x 20-1/2W x 20-5/8 Deep.
Bad news. We won't be able to make it...we'll need tomorrow and Friday and probably part of Saturday for customers. The trailer will have to wait. Take a look at the photos to see what it looks like...the first one is the empty refrigerator opening, and the second one is the new refrigerator sitting on the welding table waiting for us to install it!
We'll think about you guys while we eat our dry American Cheese sandwiches and drink Sam's Club soda at the welding table Saturday night while we rewire and install.
So sorry. Have a wonderful time, and we'll see y'all down the road.
