So is there any scheduled functions or is this all spontaneous?

These are NOGs - Non Organized Gatherings - But there usually is a pot luck on Saturday night. During the day persons participate in activities peculiar to the region. Goldendale has an observatory which sometimes allows public viewing:

There is a replica of Stonehenge:

There is a museum and winery:

Lots to do around the area.

Good links for this weekend at Maryhill Roger, but I think Dave was asking about Taidnapum in June

Last year at Taidnapum (WANOG) we had a weenie roast/beer exchange Friday and a potluck on Saturday with lots of visiting and exploring in between...Norma even found herself a quilt shop in Morton

Well, I'm a rockhound and that area has lots of purty rocks . . . .I'll be the one walking around with my head down.

We have just reserved site 287 for the 4th - 7th. I rarely post and have never been to a gathering, so this will be exciting for my family and I. We love this park. Discovered it last year on the recommendation of some friends. This will be our third stay in two summers at Taidnapam. We look forward to meeting everyone.

Thanks,
Matt, Melissa & Aidan Brown

Keep yer fingers crossed! This is the long term weather forecast:

The really long range forecasts try to break us back into a sunnier and more seasonal pattern as we trend toward June -- a development I gather that might be music to the ears of the sun fans

For the first timers to Tiadnapam...happy trails..see you there!

TIP for TomTom users..enter as intersecting streets in Glenoma, Wa / enter Kosmos Rd West first, then Champion Haul road. For some reason Champion Haul Road doesn't appear as an option if you look for that first!

or alternatively as Latitude: N 46 28 06.2 Longitude: W 122 09 51.2

Directions
Taidnapam Park is about 110 miles south of Tacoma in Lewis County, near the town of Morton. From Tacoma, take I-5 south to Highway 12 East (Exit 68). Drive east on Highway 12 for approximately 37 miles (5 miles past Morton). Turn right on Kosmos Road, then left onto Champion Haul Road. Drive approximately four miles to the park entrance.

An alternate route from Tacoma is to take Highway 7 south to Morton. At Morton, turn left onto Highway 12 and drive 5 miles. Turn right on Kosmos Road, then left onto Champion Haul Road. Drive approximately four miles to the park entrance.

I'd like to add that cell service is spotty at best in the campground, so a heads up for those who may need to stay in touch with loved ones at home, prepare an alternate method of communication while in the park.

From the north; Hiway 7 is shorter and more scenic. I come down thru Shelton so use I-5

Hello Friendly Crampers!

It's been awhile since I've logged on to FRV. Simon and I have been up to our ears in moving. Ugh! We've moved from a big house up the hill to a small house down the hill... same town, same street! DOWNSQUEEZIN'! When done, this will be a good move for us, but we're still in the throws of paint dust, purging and unpacking... frankly moving sucks... no kiddin', you all say.

So, it is with REGRET that we've decided to cancel our Taidnapum plans this year. Great park, great people... but it's just too much for us at the moment. We have to tidy-up and stage the big house and list it before mid-June. Before that there's that "fun" project: a big bleepin blowout garage sale!

So I've cancelled our spot at site #226.

When the dust settles, we'll catch up with you all again.

Have a fun, SUNNY time at Taidnapum. Special thanks to Greg Finke for putting this out there.

Cheers,
Sharen & Simon

Sharon,
Sorry to hear that you and Simon won't be at the Taidnapum get-together. We'll all miss you guys, but I understand that sometimes things in our lives take on a greater priority. Here's hoping you have a successful move to your new home, and to maybe seeing you out camping elsewhere later this year.
Greg

Hi, All,

I am sorry to report that the Eugene contingent (Bob, Adonna, Charlene, & Dennis) are all going to have to cancel, each for their own reasons. We will miss seeing you all, but we hope to see you at Bullards in July!

Take care and have fun!

Bob
