BREWMEISTER - Frank McFee

There are several wineries in North Georgia. Although they aren't that far from Hiawassee. They aren't that close either. Frank has brochures and general information about the local vinters. He is over our wine tasting event. I believe that's going to be Friday night. The final info will come from Frank.

Moderator's note: See Frank McFee's post, below. (It's #5 in this thread.)

Since I rarely drink, my fermented beverage of choice is cider. My contribution will be a bottle of either apple or peach cider.

As part of my assigned duties as the brewmeister, I thought it would be fun to have a wine tasting or of some beverage of choice on Friday evening. I suggest an inexpensive wine that maybe you like or is from your local area vineyard. This is an opportunity to taste some various wines. Let me know the interest and I will set a time and place we can meet. We might include some cheese or other appetizer. I can supply some drink glasses and tables to set things on. We do not have to limit this tasting to wine. Other beverages can be included. We knows maybe that grape juice will knock your socks off.

Beer Margarita

The Recipe:

1/2 cup Tequila
1/4 cup Triple Sec
1/2 to 3/4 can (12 oz) of frozen Limeade concentrate
1 bottle of beer (no ales, and not too hoppy!)

Blend and serve over ice.

LOL, If I could go, I'd bring the fixin's.

Have fun Al V et. al.

OK, we will bring cheese and crackers, and for something different some Gewurztraminer, made by Pelee Island Winery from Prickly Pear Cactus which grows wild on Pelee Island, (southern Canada of course, in fact our southernmost point).

I am going to bring some of our home-grown, ho-made grape wine. Might bring my favorite, a bottle of BoonesFarm, also. Will bring crackers too.

Hi Al,

It's the same company, Pelee Island Winery, but this bottle has only the prickly pear cactus on the label. It think that it's the fuel used to get the squirrels flying.

The winetasting will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday evening in the pravillion rain or shine. I will have plastic glasses that you can use to pour a sample. Please bring a favorite wine rather homemade, from a local vineyard or your local wine store. An inexpensive variety is fine. I have not expected to have a judging since each wine has there own unigueness. This is a chance to try some different wines and to do some socializing. Maybe you will find something different that you like better than your old standby. I do suggest that we try sweet wines first and move toward the more dry variety. I will have a label you can stick on your bottle for your name and to indicate sweetness or dry or whatever information you desire. Since this is a social event, we are not limiting to wine tasting. If you prefer some other beverage, bring it along. Also, bring a snack if you feel hungry.
I have some brochures and information on some of the local vineyards and the local home made wine supply store in Hiawassee.
