Hi guys, it's been a long time since I've visited here.

I came across this ad for a really unique fiberglass trailer (that doubles as a boat?) and felt compelled to stop by and post it.

I guarantee that whoever buys this will be the only one on their block (or state, or section of the country) to own this type of trailer.

It's a 1964 Royal Lite, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Here you go...

thanx Buck.
I will say that I've never seen/heard of one of these in my life.

1964, back when wind deflection and aerodynamics were engineer-only terms. Can that really be launched into water?

That could be true, but I think I might name it "Nautilus" just in case ! (Previous owner Jules Verne.)

That is a very interesting camper! I imagine you would get tons of visitors wanting to see inside that one. We were approached by 3 different people who wanted to see our camper on the way home from picking it up! NEAT-O!

It's back!

On eBay, in Shelbyville, Michigan, ending February 26, 2009. Seller has answered a few questions in the Q & A section of the auction:

Before anyone thinks that "<span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%">can also be converted easily into a house-boat!</span>" means it will float, I presume it means that the body can be lifted off the chassis and put on a barge or pontoon.

The empty trailer body might well float with the bottom of the door above the waterline (1300 pounds requires 3" draft, I reckon), but it would sink if anyone got in, or a 2" wave went past....

(pirate... houseboat... relevant smilie?)

Andrew,

I agree that the "easily converts to a boat" part should be taken with a grain of salt until proven otherwise.

(Also, I believe we established that the camper is made of "Royalex" and not fiberglass; but since we'd already mentioned it here several times, it caught my attention that it was available again.)

The more I see this, the more suspicious I become. Pricing is all over the place in the various listings. Here, ebay and craigslist. This is the 4th or 5th time I recall seeing it since the fall.

The ebay bid history raises my eyebrows. Seller history of 5, 1st 3 bids from the same zero. Supposedly the second listing. With mention that the listing "might be cancelled". Seller freely posts tel # and email which usually means they want to wheel and deal outside of ebay. Not to mention the pictures are dated nearly 4 years ago.

I still like the trailer, and the cool blue toilet brings a whole new meaning to singing the blues.
