1973 Hunter Compact II - $3450

We are selling our 1973 Hunter - Compact II. We bought it a year and a half ago thinking it would be used by our daughter to go camping with us. It isn't working out that way (new son-in-law who isn't a camper) so we've decided to sell. We're asking $3450.

This trailer has been cleaned up and refurbished/remodeled by the folks we bought it from. The trailer has new pop-top canvas with poly windows, upholstery, manufactured wood flooring, and cabinets. This is one of the few models that includes a bathroom with marine toilet (not a slide out porta-potty) which for some is a really sought-after feature. There is also a three-burner stove, oven (we haven't tested the oven, but the stove does work), 2-way refrigerator, propane catalytic heater, roof vent over the bed as well as the poly-window vents in the pop-top. The trailer still has the original quilted walls around the dinette/bed area, original dinette lights, but has NEW foam cushions and upholstery, new curtains, all windows are screened, and additional lighting has been added.

There's always more to be done on these older trailers, but it's ready to use as-is except needing new tires. Message me if you're interested. I'll upload more photos asap.

Also is the Hunter Compact II roomier than the Compact Jr? I am looking at one tomorrow.

Dinette table and kitchen counters have parquet style laminate that's in great condition.

I'm not sure about other differences, but the main one is that the Junior's pop-top is the full length of the trailer while the II has the pop-top that goes from the front door to the beginning of the dinette/bed area where you couldn't stand up anyway.

I hope that helps.

Shoegal, here is a picture of a Compact Jr. at Christmas. See how the pop-top is really long? The windows are also rectangular while the Compact II has trapezoidal shaped windows. Those are the easiest ways to tell the difference.

Compact II

The marine toilet is located just inside the front door to the right. Two folding doors make it easy to access without blocking everything else and provide some privacy while in use.

The original quilted vinyl wall covering is still present through-out much of the trailer and is in great condition!

Well, we're here if you want to come up. My husband will be around tomorrow and Friday, too.

The Compact II's fiberglass body is wider than the Compact Jr's, to accommodate the absorption fridge and toilet closet side-by-side, by turning the bed sideways.

The Jr's bed is meant to sleep for-to-aft and is larger, or can be used as very narrow twin beds, but the closet next to the Icebox is skinnier and the kitchen on the other side is smaller than the II.

The Compact II's pop-top only increases the headroom in the rear half of the cabin, while the Compact Jr's pop-top is full length for-to-aft. These tops are over the center aisle only in both trailers. I think the two trailers have similar "roominess" feelings about them since they both cram a lot into a tiny space.

I was researching the size of the bed on the Compact II. I see in the last post that on this trailer you sleep crossways. I am 6'5" so am wondering if the bed will be long enough.
Thanks.

Well, depends on how you sleep. My hubby is 6'3" and slept just fine in it. He sleeps a little curled so if you want to stretch out that might be tight.

I just measured the bed and its exactly 74" x 59" (6'2" x 4'11"). Hope that helps.
