Having someone tell you you're asking too much is a bargaining tactic. If they do not want the trailer at your price, they can go down the road. Someone else may appreciate your trailer and pay you what it is worth.
It all depends on how patient you are. I have seen people list a trailer for a year at a higher price then I would pay. Then some people price way below market price. They tend to move quickly. Recently two different Trillium 4500 trailers were priced in the $2000 range. They disappeared the same day.
2000 is a way low good price - the 5500 is a bit special as it has a bathroom shower combo and only 60 or so were ever manufactured. This one even has an input for coax cable. I would to be able to get my money out of it - this trailer has been an ongoing project, and my kids love it. It has the original 12x18 Add a room in heavy canvas with all the poles and layout drawings.
in all honesty if was to get 6500$ i would be happy with that - I have listed on kijiji for 6500 I think that is a fair price it is pretty sweet and unique. However I would LOVE TO GET 8500!!!!
we just bought a 1980 5500 for $6500 found out the floor was rotted out, most of the windows need to be removed and wood replaced, the brakes are bad, the fiberglass need fixing in a few places, the door is a little tweeked, the heater needs replacing, there are multiple leeks all around, the interior need to be re-done (still has original worn out cushions) just to name a few things. if yours is in good shape you should get better price than $6500 either that or we got taken advangtage of.
Art - that is terrible - so many of these are left to rot - it is a shame. This one was someones baby in a garage in the 80's - no leaks - windows all good - had a small leak in the roof fan the seal went (after I towed it under a low hanging tree in a park) but I put a new cover on it but didn't end up putting a new fan in - mostly cause the old one was so noisy I didn't want to use it anyways - I prefer a counter top fan. The best part of having the Trilly is rain camping - me and the kids loaded up on the beds playing games and still eating and using the loo when we want to. We have spent weeks in Northern Ontario Parks (Killbear is our fav) and I think she is like a condo on wheels!
I wish that I had seen your ad priior to buying a peach of a 1981 boler with a pile of extras attached. It is a beautiful little rig but a trifle wanting in sleeping space for our needs. We will use the boler for the latter part of the summer when I am sufficiently recovered from hip surgery received in early May. At that time I would be in position to make you an agreeable offer for your Trill. If it will still be available at that time, please let me know. I am very interested.
Regards,
Jim Hutt
James it is still up for sale and in the driveway - I have had a little bit of interest but to date no serious offers - check back in when you are feeling better - good luck with your hip surgery!
Hi Joanne,
Can you please tell me the try tow weight of your Trillium 5500? You can e-mail back here or to pappas.weiss@gmail.com. Thanks. And congrats on your "growing family!"
