1984 Scamp 5th Wheel - ill health forces sale $4000

Bought this Scamp from Laura Lundgren last summer and was looking forward to many happy trips. But due to ill health I am offering it for exactly what I paid, $4000.

It is pretty much original inside and out, except for the flooring which Laura renewed. In the past it was modified to use a Curt Spyder goose neck 2 5/16" ball hitch. The original Scamp configuration had a 2' coupler, it was converted to a 2 5/16" adjustable height coupler. This makes it much easier to match the trailer height to the truck. I will sell the Spyder insert with the camper, but you would need the Curt base plates to use it. I suspect other 2 5/16" goose necks would work just as well. Just so potential buyers know that the coupler is not the Scamp standard.

Of course, I would be willing to sell the tow vehicle I've been setting up to match the custom hitch on the Scamp, a 1999 Dodge Dakota 4x4.

There are some things Laura recommended fixing that I have not gotten to yet:
It needs new roof vents. The toilet is a little leaky, and the water inlet started acting up. The range top and hood are rusty but work just fine. The furnace, hot water heater and water pump all work too, the water heater was new in 2004.

I do have some nice pictures of the Scamp but Laura took the pictures so I'll have to ask her permission before I post them.

If Laura does let me post her pictures, please note the truck shown is Laura's Nissan, not the Dodge I have.

For those close enough to care, the Scamp is in Madison, Wis.

Thanks to Laura for letting me use her pictures.

Yes, the couch folds out into a pair of bunks.

This is at the foot of the upper berth.

new picture

Since the picture of the full camper above includes Laura's TV, I thought I should post a picture of my TV instead. This is available for sale as well. I believe it is in good condition, though I haven't driven it long distance yet so I can't completely vouch for it.

This is a 1999 Dodge Dakota 4x4, with the 318 V8 engine. It has the custom hitch to match the Scamp and has the 7 point plug though brakes and power are not yet hooked up.

I would sell the whole package for $6000, less than I paid for it all.

Scamp 5th wheel and Tow Vehicle - $6000

These are available separately of course, but I would sell the whole package for $6000.

I'd buy them both but I'm in Spokane visiting a daughter and she's being induced on Sunday. I'm kinda time/distance constrained any chance of a road/delivery trip or partial trip?

Serious

Serious about my offer. I teach school in Vegas during the school year and travel in the Northwest during summer. Sold my Trillium a few years ago to upgrade to a 19' Aljo 5th wheel but it weighs approx 4500 lbs and is beating my Colorado to death. I've wanted a Scamp 5th for a long time.
Steve
PS how many miles on the Dakota?

Steve,

I'm pretty well time/distance constrained myself these days, sorry.

Not sure what the mileage is on the Dakota, I'll check in the morning and post it.

For everyone that asked about the tow vehicle, I can't tell you much. I bought it just to set it up for the 5th wheel. I installed base plates to mount the Curt Spyder which matches the trailer.

The truck already had the brake controller and the 7-pin plug installed but the wiring for the 7-pin was all corroded so I had a local RV dealer go over it. They had to replace the entire connector and converter with a new kit. They got it working, but they said something in the brake controller is back-feeding the lights so I had them leave that wire (brake control) unconnected. Also, the 12v power wire (truck batt. to back) is undersized, so we left that unconnected as well.

Since I was planning on using my own camp site (100 miles at most) I didn't think I would need either of those right away. So the truck provides all the legal lights to the trailer, but not brake control nor battery recharge.

As for the truck itself, since I bought it I haven't had a chance to drive it far, so I can't vouch for it's performance on a long tow.

As I said above, I'll check the number of miles in the morning, and post that.

Sorry I can't tell you more,
Mark
