with a heavy duty tow package, i'd say 2000 lbs. don't be in a hurry though

SEAN----- hmmmmm- I have a Compact JR that was completely redone, but has proven to be not what my friend needs.. A 16' would be better.
Here's a link to my saga of the rebuild. http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/in...howtopic=28776 It scaled at 1600# loaded on our maiden voyage. If it looks too high, the drop axle is in storage and could be reinstalled if no off-road trips were anticipated. Larry

What years did the Vanagon rate 2000# for towing? I have always wanted one, but I thought they were all rated for only 1000#, which ruled out an egg. Maybe there is hope!

the dealer tow package was rated at 1000 lbs and 100 lbs tongue. the vanagon weighs in the 3200lbs range. with a stronger tow setup and trailer brakes, an egg should be no problem, depending on how you load it. a vanagon with a subaru engine conversion would work the best. mine has the 105 hp vw gti engine in it(a little more power/durability).

Hi Sean,
We have a 13' Scamp, stock but in excellent condition. We pull it with our 2002 Saturn VUE 4 cyl. and we don't even know it's back there when we tow it! However, we recently purchased a Dodge truck and my hubby would like to trade up, since we now have more h.p. and he would like a bathroom in our trailer. Our Scamp has new curtains, factory recovered cushions, heater and some other goodies. Interested? I can take some pictures and send them to you if you are.

Sean, we have a 13' 2000 Scamp and live in OR but are on the road camping in CA until mid-Feb. It is in great condition and might be interested. We have done some modifications to it to fit our needs such as a fridge (not icebox) and do not have the front bunks only a couch now that sleeps 1 person/child. If you still are interested come Feb. let me know
