My Casita has a Dometic Catalina 2500 awning. I have not opened it yet, looking for the wand. Is there a wand inside the awning housing somewhere? Is it something I can make from a screwdriver, etc. Please share your knowledge -
I downloaded the installation/operation manual. Thanks. Maureen S

I don't even use the wand; a metal tent peg with curved end works fine, assuming you're tall enough. Stick the sharp end of the peg into each leg piece to slide them outward from their locked position, then use the curved end of the peg to snag the cloth loop and pull. Again, if you're tall enough, you can grab the loop with you hands and pull. It's not that hard.

A philips screwdriver works great if yo can reach it, I have a Scamp 13, so I just use my fingers. I gave away my awning stick or i'd love to give it to you.
The original was a steel role-pin in the end of an aluminum extrusion.
A piece of 1/2" thinwall conduit with a 5/16" bolt welded into the end would make a nice one, and even lighter than the original!
Or you could find a mid-sized philips screwdriver with a shaft large enough and a handle small enough and simply shove the handle into a 2-3 ft piece of 1/2"or3/4" thinwall and drill a screw into the side to secure it!

Thank you both very much. I appreciate your responses. Maureen S
