Dometic RM211 3-Way Fridge - Ugly but Functional

Asking $75 the factory original Dometic RM211 3-way fridge from my '81 Scamp 13ft. I last ran it on propane 2 years ago and it worked. I tried 12VDC and 120VAC recently and it still gets cold. This unit is rusty, its interior has yellowed and its door latch is broken, but it could be made presentable with a few evenings of TLC or cannibalized for parts. The basic box is 19-1/4" W X 21-13/16" H X 14" D. Condenser coils and connections protrude another 3" out the back for a total depth of 17". The front flange measures 20-1/8" W X 22-7/16" H. The door is about 1-1/4" thick and protrudes past the flange and your cabinet. Note that, unlike the newer small Dometic fridges, this one has a tiny freezer.

I would have cleaned this unit up and used it until it died (or my girlfriend got sick of looking at it) except that I'm installing a new galley cabinet. The replacement RM2193 fridges are a little smaller, plus I'm installing a nonstandard cooktop and a furnace. That's too much surgery to do on the cabinet.

This is for pickup from Batavia, IL 60510 ONLY. Please don't ask me to ship this thing. I'm also not willing to take parts of of it. You buy the whole enchilada or none at all. Sold as-is, where-is. No warranty. Hey, it's 30 years old.

Click the photos to enlarge. The label is readable.

ICE, ICE, BABY!

You can't find one of these small fridges with a freezer section, at least not that I've seen. When it came time to replace mine I was disappointed with the options.

Regards,

Matt

Yep, I was disappointed, too. The smallest unit with a freezer is just too big for a 13ft rig. Too bad they couldn't have at least made the new ones the same size.

Are you replacing the external vents as well?
I need the lower vent for this.

Hey world, I still have this old fridge. I can't bring myself to tossing it. Somebody out there has to have a good home for this thing. Anybody?

Well, I am interested and willing to buy it for my Compact Jr. restoration, but I'm too far away and you said you didn't want to ship it.

If you could box it up and tell me the weight and dimensions, I could issue a UPS call tag from work to have it picked up.

If decide to part it out...

I'll take the brown coil cover on the inside and the plastic trim piece that goes across the front door, the one that has the model name on it.

@Frederick L. Simson,

Hauling it to a shipper is no big deal. It's finding a big enough carton and proper cushioning so it can survive shipping that's the problem. If UPS or Fedex breaks it, they might try to weasel out of settling.

The new forum host seems to have dropped location info. If you're near me of some place i go to/through, we might be able to connect. Alternatively, I could take it to a place that does the packing for you, although they might charge a lot.

Please PM me if you're still interested.

I have this unit in my '84 Scamp. The thing works great... And the freezer section makes ice fast! Anyone else who likes some ice for cocktails like me will want to snatch up this unit. My brother wanted to buy us a new fridge for the Scamp last Christmas, but I told him "no way," since a new one won't have the freezer and probably won't work as well!

I hope his unit finds a good home!

If you do really decide to part it out, I need a few items (my post is on the forum). Thanks.

San Diego, California is a long way from you. <sigh>
I'd be willing to pay up to $75 for the packaging and shipping (or $150 total) but I don't know if that is realistic.

Hey world, I still have this fridge. If somebody is willing to drive to NE Illinois to pick it up, that's easiest. I'm also willing to take it to a local pack & ship place to get an estimate on crating or boxing it up. That plus shipping probably isn't cheap, but if you need a Dometic RM211, this is one way to get it. Anybody?

Everybody wants it, no one can drive to get it! I'm in Little Rock, Arkansas. 600 miles for me. I want it too if you find some way to ship it. I'll go up to $160 total (but I won't have $160 'till the 27th).

Then all I'd need is an Air Conditioner that runs off propane. :@)

Made in England. I love that.
Hey truckers! anyone want to deliver a fridge for $50?
How 'bout you full timers? Anybody traveling this way?

I can't believe that there isn't somebody in the Illinois area who wants that fridge. You can't buy them anymore and that little freezer alone is worth the cost!! I don't need another one but if I were in the area, I'd buy it anyway in case mine ever gave up the ghost!

I bought the fridge!

According to emails from FedEx, it will be waiting for me Monday morning at work. Of course it arrived when I was out of town.
