Kevin, there is a constant supply of these Scamps being off loaded by the government, they come up every few month. I've seen the for sale
at several bases.
Fred was right in that they are used as parts trailers to keep other Scamp in the "recreation" program. We have gone and looked at them when they were for auction at Point Hueneme Naval Base. They are generally trashed. They have been used as rental units for military personal who were not gentle users to say the least. The lot we looked at had a couple that had been crashed, windows
were missing in some and there was water damage to the floors, there was a fair share of moldy walls and carpet, the propane
tanks were missing, no batteries, on some the hitches were broken and icebox and cabinet doors were missing or very damaged.
Now this is not to say that there might not be a gem in the bunch but I would never bid on one sight unseen. Not much scares me about these fiberglass trailers and the ones we saw were scary. It would take quite a bit of money and work to get one road ready (at least in the ones we looked at) and they didn't go cheap. The general price was 1200.00 to 3000.00, I think with the economy the way it is they will go cheaper but who knows?
