Hunter 1 in Oregon - $5,500

Here is a description but I don't know how to post photos, nor do I have current photos. I will take them tomorrow if rain lets up and email to any and all interested.

This is a 13 foot 1974 Hunter 1 Manufactured in Chattsworth, California.
Trailer dry weight is approx. 850 lbs, and tongue weight approx. 100 lbs.
Inside dimensions 10’ long X 6’3” wide. Top down 5’3” high, top up 6’3”.
Outside dimensions: 14’ long (Tongue professionally lengthened for easier, safer backing) 6’6” wide. Top down 6’8” tall. ( will fit in garage)
A tool/storage box is mounted on the tongue.
It pull easily behind our Rav4 6 cylinder, or E350 Mercedes wagon. Uses a 2´ball.
It is a beautiful trailer and attracts a lot of attention. Folks are always surprised to learn it’s a 1974. No leaks, no smells. Non smoking previous owners.

It is set up primarily for sites with electric and water, all elect., no propane. The on board water tank has been removed for weight reduction. The pop-up top allows plenty of headroom inside and screen windows in the top allow good air movement. ( keeping one half way open at night eliminates almost all condensation.)

Features
New 13” tires including spare.
Permanent full bed. No taking table down to make a bed. Bed has full size memory mattress & mattress topper incased in “Bedguard ultimate” series encasement (waterproof, mite proof, bug proof)
Sheets & pillow cases included
Seats on either side and a portable table to go between in bad weather.
Thetford portable toilet (never used)
2 year old 1.7 cu. Ft. refrigerator with freezer
Insta-hot water heater for morning coffee or dish washing with lighted switch
Stainless sink and built in cutting board.
(we did remove the propane stove as it heated the trailer and added fumes)
New cabinetry
Built in water pressure regulator
We have used a portable convection oven and Induction cooktop for cooking (not included)
Most a/c wiring has been replaced and a breaker box installed.
10,000 BTU Portable Air conditioner which can be removed in cooler weather and the space used for additional storage.
Portable heater keeps trailer comfortable ( we have used down to 34 degrees)
Leveling jacks for rear of trailer
Side windows are tinted to reduce and are sealed to prevent any leaking
(the windows in pop-top and door provide plenty of air movement)
Flourescent 120v light and battery led lighting
Wheel bearings have been greased after every trip and and an extra set are included.
Electric cord for site power is included with 30 amp adapter
Cover for storage

This trailer is a joy to use and tows effortlessly. We shall miss it.
Why are we selling ? We have a Lil Snoozy on order as we want on board toilet and shower.

nice camper. I'm curious if anyone knows what the price was in 1974 for such a camper.

Hunter Compact Prices

According to the original sales literature, my 1973 Hunter Compact-II (A more deluxe model), was $2495.00 (about $13,100 in 2014 $$$) when first sold at Meeks RV in Union City, CA, in November of 1973 including:

3 burner LP cook top
cold water system with kitchen sink and holding tank
AC Lighting
AC Outlets
Dinette/Full bed
LP/AC refrigerator
LP Tank
Pop-up top
Bathroom w/marine toilet & holding tank

I have heard that the base price on the Compact-I was $1795.00 or about $9400 in 2014 $$$.

The Little Hunter Family

Bob,
Yes, loved your info on pricing. I've got the Compact II, also, but the original owner in '73 must not have had the inclination or the money to put the marine toilet into the small privacy room...I believe this option just cost $39 extra to be installed by the factory!
Did they only make the 3 Hunter models for only 3 or 4 years, and if so, was the Compact Jr the first, the Hunter I the second, and the Compact II the best and the last?
I listed the Jr as first, because it has the least going for it. Other than the largest bed, there's not much there...not even the beautiful diamond vinyl upholstered walls and ceiling, no privacy room, no side window awnings, and I think the closet was dealt away, too.
Would love to hear more.
BB

I haven't a clue about which came first. I have two brochures on the Compact-II with no mention of the other two models.
