There's an old saying "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

Every one of these setups I've seen is "home made." Some just look more professional than others. Ask yourself, when was the last time you saw an MANUFACTURER of 5th wheels say you can pull one of their trailers with a regular hitch? Like, NEVER. If it was a prudent thing to do, I would think that manufacturers would be all over this as an option because it would open up their potential buyer list to a whole new group... like SUV owners.

No way, no how would I ever tow a 5th wheel with a setup like this. There are too many shark lawyers out in the world just waiting for someone to do something stupid. And since you'd get zero support from the manufacturer.....

Your "mileage" may vary however.

Donna,

That confirms what I thought - but I didn't want to assume since I'm not a "5th wheeler."

It's at $4500 now.

I didn't realize you could tow a 5th-wheel trailer with a regular hitch. Is this true?

The ad says "can easly [sic] be towd [sic] with a regular hitch or goose neck" and shows a photo of an SUV with a regular "tag-along" hitch mounted to the trailer. It looks like there is a lot of leverage on the structure that's connected to the TV's hitch.

Did anyone notice the bend in that hitch? Hmmmm I wonder how that happened? If I thought it was a good idea I'd be all over that because I would love a 19' Scamp. But alas, no Pickup.

$4500

End of the week will be down in the $3's......
This fella just didn't know the market..

I can just hear the spouse going:

"You told me we'd make all kinds of money on this! I want this out of our driveway NOW!"

LOL, well this flip attempt disapeared for a bit but sure looks like from the pics and the hitch description that it has surfaced once again in Sulphur Springs, TX where the original flipper may have dumped it to this new person who is attempting to flip it. Too bad, because at the original $1900 price a few weeks back this would have made a very nice Scamp for someone to keep and love.

It's Baaack

You guys are entertaining the heck out of newbie. I didn't realize all this flipping stuff was going on.
Makes me a bit more "wide-eyed" about buying. Keep up the great work though.

One would think that with a little bit of effort those rust stains would come off.....

Quoting the ad:
"I've only since 3 in my life and this could be yours!!"

Maybe he left out:
"I've only [b]had it since 3 [b]o'clock. I'm blinded by dollar signs in my life and this could be yours!!"

Who mentioned anything about any "effort." Just want to sell it to someone else and pocket a couple of thou for a few days of running free ads on CL.

Actually, hope they don't clean the rust stains because that and the homemade hitch setup are how we can keep tracking this trailer....

wish it was back at the 1900 We would make it have a nice home. We like the idea of having a dedicated bed area.
