We are selling our 1987 Vixen TD with 59,000 miles on it. This is a unique motorhome designed by the engineer who did the DeLorean. It has a fiberglass body and BMW diesel engine and gets 30 miles per gallon on the highway. It sleeps 4 and is a full class A motorhome with toilet/shower, refrigerator, microwave, and 120v AC. It has a new lower first gear installed along with a Ford Taurus electric fan, otherwise it is stock. All belts (including timing) and hoses have been recently replaced as well as the clutch. It has new tires and auto battery. It is located in Nevada City, California. We are asking $16,900. If you want more info, contact me at jimch530 [at] sbcglobal.net or (530) 470-8671. You can see more pictures at http://tinyurl.com/VixenRV

What a great rig! However, this forum is dedicated to Fiberglass Trailers so this would be better posted on an RV forum.

On your webpage all the thumbnail images are broken.

very cool, I wonder what ever happened to the moulds and such. bet there's a story to be told there.
might be an issue getting the windshield replaced. good luck though, certainly a head turner.

Cool Rig! We camped beside one for a week in Patagonia SP, AZ this spring. Like a yacht inside! Turbo diesel BMW mill...wow! The camper beside us had painted his with black graphics reflecting Arizona aboriginal culture...Kokopelli et al. On the other side, his graphics included handprints of the grandkinder...along with new icons such as Mickeypelli!
Guy obviously had the soul of a true 'egger"1

We've had folks trade trailers for molded motorhomes. We just don't talk about them (much) on this forum. Our focus is towables.

But Jim is interested in selling his Vixen and I think we can help him out by pointing him to the Open Road Forums on RV.net

Scott,

All of the spare parts and molds were purchased by a dealer when the manufacturer went belly up in 1989. They are now owned by another dealer in Montana. So these vehicles are not totally orphaned. In fact, the new guy keeps coming up with new improved replacement parts. He also has a deal with Coach Glass to make and drop ship the windshields to his customers.

Donna,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out.

My thoughts in posting to this forum were that the body material was appropriate and this particular topic included pickup truck campers as a "miscellaneous RV", so why not a class A?

If you recall, my wife and I attended your Northern Oregon gathering this past spring while we were researching eggs. We decided to wait a while until (hopefully) fuel economy improved for tow vehicles (a plug-in hybrid might be the way to go). In the mean time, we've downsized to yet another type of fiberglass RV, a Little Guy teardrop trailer, which we can tow behind our Toyota Corolla wagon. We'll see how that goes for a while.

Jim

Jim,

What's the tow rating on your Vixen? Have you seen anyone ever towing with one of these?

It seems to me that 30mpg is by far a much better fuel rating than most of our tug/trailer combo's allready. If a person was able to tow a small get around vehicle even with a mpg loss, your Vixen would be a great RV. Thanks for the links to your pictures.

Of course I remember you and Ann, you were Yurt people or better known as wannabes. I remember hearing about this motorhome too.

Good luck with your sale and when you get tired of laying down to get dressed maybe a full-size egg will be in your future
