SOLD:1989 burro 13 for sale in alexandria ky.

Up for sale is my recently overhauled 1989 Burro 13. This camper was pretty solid when I started it, so it didn't need alot of work.

NOW ON EBAY: 1989 BURRO 13 LIKE SCAMP AND CASITA! NO RESERVE! LOOK!! - eBay (item 170612250473 end time Mar-13-11 17:30:00 PDT)

New items are: floor covering- I replaced the carpet and added a hard wood entry. Windows- I removed the front and rear windows, replaced the cracked plexiglass with tinted lexan and resealed the windows with butyl tape and installed them. I only replaced the bad plexiglass, not all of the plexiglass. The frames were also painted. Center Seam- I removed all of the old discolored white trim-lok and replaced with NEW black trim-lok. Headliner: I removed the old worn headliner and replaced it with a new headliner with padding and Scamp style material. Roof Vent: I removed the damaged roof vent and installed a new roof vent dome. Tail Lights: All runnng lights and tail lights were removed and replaced with new lights and wiring. The wiring is new from the TV connection to the rear of the camper. The original pancake lights were replaced with cut in recessed lights for a cleaner look. Running Gear: I removed the wheels and repacked the bearings, the tires are in good condition. I also installed 1960's era OEM spinner style hub caps. These are not cheap plastic hub caps, they are all steel chromed hubcaps. I am embarassed to say what I paid for them, but the answer is in another posting on this forum if you are that interested. The fresh water fill port was replaced with a new port as was the electrical suppy access port. I also replaced the fresh water holding tank drain valve with a new valve.

This camper is nice and ready to camp! There are not many bells and whistles in this camper, but thats what makes it nice, SIMPLICITY! No bathroom, no A/C, no heater, but it does have an Ice box and a 2 burner gas cook top. The cushions are 6" foam with custom made covers that can be removed to wash. There are electrical outlets inside to plug in a ceramic heater or a fan etc...

The fiberglass exterior is in good condition as well. There are a few of the typical spider cracks, but nothing major and definately no leaks.

If you are looking for a Nice, Simple camper that needs nothing prior to camping, this is the one. No work involved, just haul it around and enjoy it.

$3950.00

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks, Mark

is the "burro" decal on the outside original or did you add/replace it?

Tim, the interior height is about 6'1". I am 6' and can stand up straight inside. The tongue weight is about 100 pounds and the trailer dry weight is around 1000 pounds. The tail lights are NOT LED's, they are normal bulb lights. I think a 3157 bulb to be exact. The door opens fine, I don't really know what you mean by smoothly, but the door operates as it should. The front window does NOT open, but the rear and side windows all open for ventilation. The burro decals on both sides are original and have not been altered or replaced. They are a bit faded, but still look fine.

Mark, how do folks add A/C to these? A Wave Heater could be installed pretty easy by the front entry but wouldnt want to put the weight of a roofmount A/C on top. Looks like the best option would be under the closet like Scamp used to do. Did Burro ever offer A/C and if so where did they install it? Is the battery under the rear bench? Do these ever have front bunks? So far all the ones I've seen only sleep 3 with a front bench.

Melissa, I have seen A/C on the roof of the Burro 17, but not on the smaller Burros. You could install A/C in the front bench like Casita does or use the refrigerator area like I did on my last Burro. The battery goes under the front bench on the left side. My last Burro had the front bunks/sofa. They are set up just like the scamp with the front hinge and the back sofa cushion being the top bunk mattress. This unit can be set up for bunks pretty easily. It would only need the hinge mounted and the top board with a cushion.

There is storage space under all of the seating areas, under the sink, over the sink and in the closet. The camper is equipped with an ice box.

The Ice box is more of a cooler. It uses Ice.

Tim, I will get a pic in the next couple of days. The closet is just a big open compartment, no shelving or anything. It is still the rough fiberglass interior. It has never been modified with a liner or shelving.

I have had 2 local couples look at it this afternoon, so it may be short lived on the for sale board.

If the ice box requires ice and there is no furnace, why does the trailer have a propane tank on the tongue?

Tim, the propane is needed to work the stove. A furnace and refrigerator can easily be added to the existing gas line. The cut out and dimention of the Ice box is exactly the same size as a 3-way refrigerator, so it would be about a 2 hour job installing a frig. The furnace can be installed pretty easy also, depending if you use a wave or a small forced air propane furnace.
