SOLD: 2001 16ft Scamp Anoka MN

There is a 2001 16 ft Standard Scamp with the bunk end for sale at Shorewood RV Center in Anoka, MN for $4995. My husband and I looked at it this morning as we were curious - we have a new Scamp on order. The unit is said to be a one owner - needs a good cleaning. Has furnace, no a/c, Fantastic fan, 1.9cu ft refrig, stove, awning, receiver hitch. Has side storage room/"bathroom" that just has a sink in it with a place for a porta-potty. No water heater. The cushions are in good shape. The RV dealer was willing to lower the price to $4295, appears motivated to "move the unit out". Appears to have the "good type" of axle (one supposedly not affected by the axle problem). There are pictures to view on the dealer website @ Shorewood RV Center | Minnesota's RV Dealer | Proudly carries Tiffin Motorhomes Airstream Travel Trailers > Inventory.

That sounds like a really good deal for a 2001, just goes to show you that the dealer has no idea what he has.

Anybody know what it would cost to swing by the Scamp factory with this and have a toilet installed?

No, but for the asking price you couldn't go wrong.

So since the drain is already there, does that mean it would be easy to add the toilet/shower?

While there is a Sink in the "storage/bath room" there may not be a shower's floor drain, nor is there any Black Tank/waste drain plumbing. There is no advantage in this trailer to add a toilet, plumbing-wise. Maybe only a slight advantage to add a shower.

It never crossed my mind that it probably doesn't have a black water tank. If you like the trailer buy it then put a porta potty in it and see how that works for you. At least it does have a bathroom so there would be some privacy.

Exactly what I was thinking Greg. But with 4 people and me being the one doing the emptying a Scamp toilet/black water tank mod will def have to be done. The Scamp tank sits above the floor like a pedestal so I don't see why it would be difficult to have installed. I'll talk to Scamp tomorrow and see what they say.

I am under the impression that a Scamp toilet is not much more than a glorified Porta-potty anyway?
They are rigged to drain externally but I think the tank is just under the toilet itself?

I need another one like I need a hole in my head and I am thinking of driving up there today.

Mellissa,if you are serious and not just blowing smoke get in the car yesterday!
This seems to be the exact rig you have been talking about and it looks extremely underpriced too!

It even has Jalousie windows!

Sealand Black Tank For Toilet

Here is the link and the picture for the toilet in the Scamp. It is just a tank that sits above the floor and the toilet mounts to that. This would be very easy to mount in the Scamp yourself. No need to have the factory install it! For $525.00 plus shipping you could have the toilet, and the tank. The water line is already in that area, so it would be about a $5.00 piece of water line and a few fittings and you would be ready to GO, literally!

Exactly what I thought.

Also I was not being sarcastic or nasty Melissa,I have done this 5 times now and the key to getting the right one is being the 1st to "Pull the Trigger" really.

Thinking about it at all lets someone else jump ahead and it is tough enough getting one even if you are 1st in line let alone letting any time pass at all.

I have a "Story" about every one I have found to back this up too.

Ed

No worries Ed. I appreciate the insight. Actually, I had made an offer online as well as left a Voice Message. When I tallied up the cost of the toilet/black water tank, A/C, Hot Water Heater, Electric Brakes, and the cost to drive over 3200 miles round trip with motels (one way at least) and gas prices through the snow I decided I'll keep looking for something closer. Thank you anyway though.

I guess my inner "engineer" was talking.
Yes, you could have it installed; I just thought that there was no "advantage" over a trailer that had nothing at all. You're still basically starting from scratch plumbing-wise.
