One-owner since new. Trailer was purchased on 2/21/75

Might be the most original Play-Pac Hitch Hut in the country and quite possibly one of a few remaining!
It has spent its whole life stored inside when not used! Used a few times from 1975-1981
Stored since 1981 and was taken out twice in 2009 and been stored since then again.
In 2009, reupholstered cushions and new window treatments were updated. New 6-ply tires were also purchased in 2009.
Has air conditioning which was not offered from the factory! No heat though. We used a ceramic heater w/thermostat.

two burner range w/cover

35lb ice box (I'm guessing can be retrofitted with min-fridge)
4-ply white wall tires (these originals were replaced in 2009 with 6-ply blackwall tires)

vanity mirror- bottom opening screened tinted plexiglass windows (visible in photos)

sleeps 4 on the 4" polyfoam cushions (re-upholstered to a very neutral beige cloth fabric in 2009)
stainless steel sink
12 gal fresh water tank
5 gal grey water tank for sink
rear fold/extend stabilizing jacks (visible in photos)
original 25' power cord for shore power

This quote came from Wikipedia online about the PlayPac:

"Fiberglass body construction entered the U.S. scene in 1971 with the introduction of the first U.S.-produced mini travel trailer, called the Playpac. The Playpac, invented by Steven Whysel, was the answer to the needs of the growing horde of VW "Bug" and other small-car owners who wanted a hard-shelled camper, light enough to be pulled by a small car, with a private water closet, shower and the ability to sleep six. Its ultramodern aerodynamic styling and domed skylight by the modernist Industrial Designer Toshihiko Sakow made it an instant hit. It was short-lived, however (1971–1973), as the first Arab oil embargo and the ensuing major slow-down of RV sales caused it to cease operations."

A PlayPac manual can be downloaded in the document center. Here is the direct link to it!

Kurt, have you tried selling this on Ebay? With the photos you have and that description, I am sure that you would get more than a best offer over the low $4000.00 range. Odd and Rare items sell well on Ebay due to more exposure. I have a Burro listed on Ebay and have had 850 views in 20 hours. Don't sell your camper short, if it is as nice as it looks, it will do well on Ebay. Just my opinion!

Drooling. But, alas, I don't have the money to add to my fleet. I have studied the pictures and it's wonderful to see a PlayPac in original condition/configuration. Sigh.,

Mark,

I'm considering puting it on ebay yet tonight! I just don't know if it will hit the $5000 mark or not.

Kurt, you can put a reserve on it, but I prefer no reserve. Buyers would rather know that someone is going to own it at the end of the auction and bids tend to be higher for a no reserve auction compared to a reserve auction.

I agree with Mark's comment regarding an auction with a reserve vs an auction with no reserve.

For example, your auction & Mark's auction end within 24 hours of one another I believe... since his auction has no reserve, I'll probably bid more aggressively on his because I know it will sell no matter what.

Just my 2 cents!

Between the two of your auctions, hopefully I'll have a new trailer this weekend!

Tim,

I am 6 ft tall and if I remember, I can stand up in it. I will see if I can get you a measurement tomorrow.

Regarding the reserve price, my reserve is not unreasonable, so hopefully it won't hurt the auction. Either I would have to have a high starting price or have my reserve otherwise I couldn't let it go for less than the offer I have on it. We'll just have to see what happens.

Thanks for the info though!

Kurt, you may want to add some key words into the description such as : Casita, Scamp, u-haul and Burro so that fiberglass fans can find it in a search. BTW, I like your add and warranty disclaimer....

Mark,

That warranty disclaimer should sound good. I borrowed yours!!!

You had a good one and I didn't have a lot of time to get it posted so I copied yours and changed the info. Thanks!

my interior is 5 ft 10 inches tall. I have the 102, or whats left of one. The bubble port on top lets a 6 foot tall person stand without issues. That PlayPac is absolutely beautiful. If I had the cash available, it would be mine.

Mark and Tim,

I took your advice and have removed the reserve. I believe that my starting price is a fair price for someone to acquire this camper. At that price, I have no problems letting it go.

Hopefully, this weekend, our baby will have a new home; someone that can take it out to the campground and and have fun with it. The Hitch-Hut deserves to be in its element, instead of being stored away.

I remember when we took it out in 2009, we had others at the campground asking what it was and if they could have a look at the inside!
