Hi Carol,

Do you have a list yet of what people are bringing for the potluck? I am just starting to plan for the rally and comprising my grocery list (I really dislike grocery shopping).

I would like to bring a Greek Pasta Salad.

Hi Tammy

Thanks for starting this topic! I had not got into thinking camping until yesterday, was still in ski season mode!

Will mark you down for the Greek Pasta Salad. Sounds GOOD.

If everyone else could let me know what they are bringing that would be great. That way we avoid have to much of one thing.

GREAT idea to start a list like this even IF it doesn't stay up on this board.

Carol, I'm wonderin IF you have access to Craigs vast email list? It might further assist if someone reached other happy campers with a question of 'what, if anything' were you planning to bring to the meet??? Maybe you could convince Jill to reach people??

I am a firm believer in Carols logic about not having too may dishes of any one item.

No feedback/reply on the golf issue Carol??

Hee hee. As a native Minnesotan, I had made potluck comment, but then I thought the better of it. It was just about how planning a potluck kind of goes against the "luck" part (although many people in Minnesota do planning as well - usually A-L main dish; M-Z dessert).

Do people out there bring hotdish and bars?

I sure hope to get out there! But since I know you probably can't wait that long to find out, here are a couple of links

Hotdish:

Bars: (Pronounced "BAhrse" with a snake-like "sss" sound, not a "zee")

....ahh, so (see, I AM bilingual??) ....hotdish = casarole (SP?)
I'm sure Carol will have samples of this great dish.

The bars is still foreign to me, is that like a home made (baked) cookie???

Interesting concepts....

Yes, it's like a cookie only you spread the whole batch of dough into a baking dish, and cook it all at once. Then you slice it into ... well... bars, like the shape of a brownie (although note that brownies are not considered proper bars). I imagine that it might have come about when you had to make something for a church potluck, and you had the choice of tending six batches of cookies or throwing it all into a pan and baking one batch of bars, but I don't know that for sure.

You'll be Minnesotan before you know it! Ya, you betcha

Ian and I will be leaving tomorrow from Vermont on our trip across the states to pick up our new 19' Escape on May 7th. We will be coming on the rally. We will get some bread and cheese and green salad. I'm sure there's a great grocery store in Chilliwack! We're really looking forward to meeting you all.

....have Reace/Tammy give you directions to where ever you need to go!!
In the township of Ft.Langley there is e really nicely stocked local IGA super market. NOT overly large in size but nicely stocked with most anything you'd need. (Note: bring comfie shoes, Ft.Langley is a great tourist place with lots to do, including an actual historical fort)

When coming from Escape Trailers headed west on the highway, look for the exit to SUMAS, Washington. Take it headed south toward the Can/Us border (only about 1 or 2 miles to border) on the right side of this road is a Cost-Co, just FYI!!! Right in that area is a Zellers Dept. store and also near at hand is a large hardware store. Between these three places you'll prolly find MOST anything you need to stock up on for your stay!!!

Since we will be picking up our new Escape 19 that Friday, we too will be loaded up with lots of gear in our vehicle, and probably will be buying stuff from the list of places Doug provided. I am guessing we will bring something that does not need much lead time to make, like a veggie plate or something. I would rather have Lisa and me spending time having fun on Saturday, rather than cooking. Any other ideas that would fit the bill?

It seems we may have more then enough desserts, so we won't do that then.
