My aim is to encourage others to practice an art form. Whether it be canoe building, wood carving, making furniture or some other craft, the rewards and personal satisfaction are enormous. I'm fortunate to be associated with a club with exceptional carvers that push each other to be better with each thing we do. There are three of us building folk instruments and we take pride in each other's development. The results just keep getting better.
I keep a carving made years ago as a reminder of things past. Sometimes the results are just plain ol' firewood but you won't see them here. Lol!

Building ukuleles!

At the young age of 68, I've started helping a local self-taught ukulele luthier. Here's my first one.

Hi Marv. Nice looking uke! I'm a young 74 looking at the next 30 years and new hobbies. Mine have been trial and error. There are boxes of errors in the basement and I just haven't the heart to discard them.
Maybe I should have a bonfire at the annual Bolerama. Should make for an interesting evening with friends as I toss them in, eh?

Cut up a gourd today. A little work on this old 1/2 scale guitar neck and I should have a nice little 17 " scale tenor banjuke sometime in the future.

Be sure to post photos when it's done ! A definite one-of-a-kind, don't think I've ever seen a tenor scale banjuke, especially with a gourd body.

New levelling blocks for the trailer tongue. Might make someone look twice.
