Any rowers out there in all toady moldable land?

Anyone row OTW or on an indoor rower or ERG? I started on the C2 ERG in May for CV rehab after the sad old story of metabolic syndrome, angina, stent. Luv it! Did 145K metres this month and a 1/2 marathon for the C2 internet logbook. Averaging 100K over four months. Jack

I do. I have an ocean shell- a Sea Ranger II- which has a sliding seat (Piantedosi drop in rig) and a 36 inch beam (18 feet long) so is very stable but rows very well. I don't get out on the water too often, though, due to tide restrictions- need to rebuild my dock so that I can get out when the tide isn't all the way in. So averages 1-2 x per week right now.

Weird, not the picture I was trying to post! Oh well, that's my coxswain, Jack.

Here's the boat.

The cox is a lwt for sure. Is the boat a dory-derived hull? Sometimes I feel the fog and hear the fish jump even on the erg. Too often not. At one time, I had a 16' clipper version of a NY Whitehall. Was not outrigged or sliding seat but very good run per stroke. I wish I still had it but I would have to transport and haul in and out like a canoe. The rower is minimum time investment for the CV conditioning. jack

This is the boat.

I row it as a single (only have one rig) but the seller told me it rows better as a single than the SeaRanger I does. I have mounts for rowing as a double but don't have another rig for it. Very shallow draft so great for our lagoon, very, very stable (the coxswain can walk around and not flip it). Regular Dreher carbon fiber oars but now painted because Carbon fiber doesn't hold up to sun very well and gets splintery.

I bought it used about ten years ago so got a much better price. But it comes in colors now.

Thanks for the tickle, Jim. I'm fine, lost the belly. Three hrs a week at the Y no problem for us retired wrinklies. Just so I won't have to be sorry to hear about medical issues in your case, don't get yourself in my situation. This means not frequenting (well maybe infrequently) pony tracks, card rooms, and other sorts of houses ill-reputed for one thing and t'other. Diet is important also. Nuff said.

Jack
